First and foremost, because this crush has never died, David Bowie. I first saw him in Labyrinth, and mmmmm. That part where he says, “Just let me rule you and I will be your slave”: OK! YES!
Brett Michaels of Poison. I had a poster of the whole band on my wall. I remember mom asking which ones were men and which were women! Mo-ooom!
Axl Rose. I guess since he was such a bad boy. I tied bandanas in skullcaps on my head for months because of him.
jarbabyj Right you are, current hearthrobs belong in another thread. To make up for my lapse, I’ll confess to another crush from my tender years–the oldest brother on Here Come the Brides–not Bobby Sherman, he was the youngest, and the middle brother was a bit to beefy for my taste, but the oldest brother was sure cute. I seem to remember that all the characters had names that began with ‘J’–Jeremy, Jason and Josh, maybe? Anyone know who the actor was?
And, I also had a thing for Agar (Larry Storch) on F Troop–but it wasn’t a sexual thing, he was just cuddly, like a teddy bear. And he made me laugh. A man with a sense of humor always has a chance with me.
Bingo, Ginger. Melissa Joan Hart can change me into a bear any day. I also double-drool over Charmed. Alyssa and Holly are sweet honey biscuits.
Nocturne reminded me…I had the hots for Freida, from Swedish pop sensation ABBA. I used to dream of being sandwiched (no, I didn’t know what that meant) between her and Chris Evert.
When I was extremely young, Caroline Kennedy, don’t ask me why.
And Dame Diana Rigg, go ahead ask me why. If there has ever been a match in the women’s world for the enduring sexiness of Sean Connery then is surely must lie in the delectable Ms. Rigg. The lady simply oozes class from every pore. Ah, that I might age so gracefully. Yum!
It was almost traumatic to see her cast as less than glamorous in the redeaux of “Rebecca”.
I realize that a lot of the crushes I had growing up haven’t disappeared at all. I’m still going steady with most of these guys: Bono, Sting, Simon LeBon (all he needs is some “Sun-In” and a day at the beach and he’ll be back to his Rio Yacht-ridin’ self), Neil Finn of Crowded House, Harrison Ford, and Mel Gibson.
I’m afraid Dirk Benedict and I grew apart, Charie Sheen and I just couldn’t make it work (his scene in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” is just the BEST), and Andrew McArthy just let the magic die between us.
And I don’t know if you guys heard about this, but the five original members of Duran Duran are reforming for a new album and with a tour to follow. So, I guess Roger and Andy will be picking up and moving out of Eric Estradaville. Roger was a cutie, but he seemed to have the personality of a paper towel.
Heartthrobs past? Good heavens, why hasn’t anyone mentioned Leif Garrett? Oh, he was HOT! Woohoo! I used to alternate days, being married to either Leif or Shaun Cassidy. Sometimes I’d leave them both for flings with Parker Stevenson or Dirk Benedict, but really, my heart belonged to Leif.
Sigh.
I go for the older men now. Harrison Ford and Sean Connery…grrrrrOWL! Oh, and the oft-mentioned-in-this-thread Alan Rickman (MAJOR babeness in Robin Hood). But every once in a while, my memory strays back to those wild and carefree days, just me n’ Leif…ahhhhh. Those days were sweet.
Finally, a woman who shows some common sense. So now, admit it, is not Ms. Rigg most suitable for nomination as the “Incredibly Sexy Woman of Recent History” or what?
We all know Laird Connery is, and rightfully so (will there ever be another 007?) the one and only Bond.
When I was 10 I went to a drive in theatre, and saw this incredible movie called Star Wars (anyone remember this?). In it was the dashing rogue pilot named Han Solo played by Harrison Ford. I fell in love right then and there, and damned if he isnt still the man of my dreams. And who says people are fickle?
When I was a sensitive, poetic 16 year old, my absolute top heartthrob was Elizabeth Barrett Browning. She inspired me to research and write a paper on her romance with Robert Browning, and it won me a writing award from the MLA.
The only ‘crush’ I can remember is Speed Racer…why I lusted after a cartoon at the age of 5, I’ll never know…maybe it was the scarf on the neck thing, very sexy look in cartoons.
