Removing IE 6.0 completely and re-installing

Even though I’ve been usuing Mozilla & Opera since my Big Computer Freakout™, I have found that certain sites I would like to use require Internet Explorer.

The IE on my system is still royally screwed up. It will not connect to the internet via my cable modem whether I’m using Zone Alarm or not. I’ve re-installed ZA to no avail.

I even used the IE repair program, but it didn’t help either.

I would like to completely remove IE and re-install it. I know IE is integrated into Windows in such a way that removing it could be hazardous to the OS.

Any tips?

Use Method 2 from Microsoft KB Article 318378.

It also works on Windows 2000, though the article doesn’t say so.

Crap! I forgot to mention I’m using Windows Me (yeah, yeah, I know).

Those registry entries may be the same in ME, but I don’t have a system around that I can check them on. You may be better off blowing everything away and installing from scratch.

Absolutely use at your own risk. Never had anything God-awful happen when using it, but you never can be too sure!
