Reno911!

Can’t believe there isn’t a thread on this yet, but the search engine says it ain’t so, so…

I was laughing my ass off last night, especially the bit where the cops pull thier guns on the two guys walking down the street. The cop drinking wine in his cruiser with the other guy was a pretty good bit, too.

Looks to me like it could be a fun little show, and it certainly appears that they had a fun time making it.

I also think the show looks good. Last night’s episode was the first one I’ve seen, and I thought it was pretty funny. Especially the scene where the perp tells the officer she looks like one of the characters (I think one of the very overweight characters) from the 70’s tv show “What’s Happening.” The officer sprays him in the face with pepper spray and says “That’s what’s happening. Hey Hey Hey.” Ok, my description is crappy, but trust me, it was very funny.

ive seen both show and the 2nd show was funnier than the 1st and the 1st was funny…comedy central is putting on some good shows these days

What? Where? Dammit, this should be on network TV here.

So for the cable-les denizens of Reno itself, what is Reno911?

It’s kind of a parody take-off of cops. I tuned in because I love any and all shows related to The State(yes even Viva Variety). It’s pretty damn funny. I can’t even look at Thomas Lennon’s character in those shorts without laughing.

I agree, 5-HT. Seeing Tom in those shorts and that MOUSTACHE just makes me crack up.

I think Dan (I wanna put my balls in it!) was on the 2nd episode of Reno 911!.

Saw it last night for the first time. It was funny.

Favorite scene was when the naked guy ran across the border to Cali and the cops stopped chasing him because he left the state. The naked guy was just jumping up and down taunting the cops.

It’s pretty good. It’s no “Strangers with Candy” because it’s a little too jumpy trying to imitate “Cops” but it is funny.

Since I had to go look it up to find out what time it comes on, I thought I might as well post a link for everyone else, and announce that it’s Wednesdays and 10:30pm (9:30pm central)

My favorite parts are when the cops are narrating to the camera and talking about each other. Kinney (one of the co-creators) is particularly good at this.

NYC is plastered with posters of the characters on the sides of phone booths (not the Superman-type anymore, but enough room for a poster).

Johnson is OK, but I want more asides from her. Also need to flesh out Jones more–right now he’s pretty much “the black guy” and I want to hear his thoughts.

I suppose Officer Dangle will pick up a new guy every show. And Jones has obviously slept with him and every other character except Gonzalez and the boss, the straight-arrow one–Travis?

And the ice-cream truck blowing up–how cool was that?

Why are they all deputies?

I love the characters they run into, like the nightstick-stealing gal in the first show and the trailer lady and the birdhouse guy. And all the perverts…the perverts!

Which is the one that makes a inadvertent, lucky, and valuable bust every show? Travis?

I need a character guide.

Good show, but what do you expect when you have so many people from THE STATE in it?

Specially since his name is “Jim Dangle.” Thats such a perfect gay porn name it cracks me up every time i hear it. The promos crack me up too “People often ask me: when you shoot somebody, do you aim to kill or just maim? And too me thats just missing the point… that you get to SHOOT somebody”

I liked the bit with the naive girl cop and the “experienced” girl cop.
(Both are dressed up as hookers, trying to do a sting…at 9 AM in the morning.)

Experienced girl (getting into a car): I’m going on my lunch break

Naive girl: OK, I’ll just be here…or not, I might be out givin’ a couple of BJ’s!

Hey, the CC website is great! Turns out Dangle is a looie, but all the rest are deputies, and the seemingly middle-aged Junior is only 29.

That show is really funny, I love how the real Reno cops act exactly like that (and I’d know, I used to live there).

This show is really funny. One of my favorite bits was when the 2 officers strolled up on the mim and took him down for mocking them. Another funny one was when they pulled up on the Jehovas witnesses and made em get on the ground with their guns drawn. Ok not so great of a description but I advise everyone to check it out!

It’s funny and more than a little subversive too.

I’m surprised it hasn’t been denounced on FOX News by the Fraternal Order of Police, or some other, similar gesture of backlash.

Are you kidding me, RTA? It’s not subversive at all.

In any case, the show is a big hit with the Arlington PD. Cops love those types of shows. Supertroopers is quite popular, too, basically because a lot of the time the characters do stuff the cops wish they could do. Especially the antics on Supertroopers.

This show is as predictable as a sunrise and not even as funny as a Colin Quinn monologue.

Simply poor. And its not even filmed in Reno.

I was actually really hoping it would be good. I liked “Viva Variety” and think a few of those people are pretty funny. I also read that if it was a hit, they would try to do some local filming for the second season. Unfortunatly, this show blows so hard I doubt that is gonna happen.

“Lets get them meek bastards NOW!

They should definitely film in Reno or environs. The NV suburbs may have some basic similarities with SoCal ones but the feel is different.

Glad to see that cops like it. I remember that the NYC cops’ kids would have the best confiscated fireworks in the neighborhood every July 4

It’s a 13-run commitment so far; they may run out of stories. But I’ll enjoy it for now.
