Yes, I’ve always had it this way. I guess I never thought of it as a problem. And I’m running Chrome not Firefox.
How often does the problem happen for you, LN?
Just out of curiosity, have you tried a script blocker like noscript? I have mine set to enable straightdope.com but it blocks pretty much anything else that comes from here.
I’ve run into this before, and I’ve seen other people mention it. But it was always a temporary problem, and doing it again later would usually work.
Have you attempted using Firefox in Safe Mode or even a new profile, to see if there’s a problem on your end? These two will get around any possible settings that could be causing problems.
(I am assuming you already tried clearing cookies.)
Yeah, it ain’t just you Pizza-dude. It’s been a looooong running intermittent problem that many people have brought up in multiple threads. Nobody knows why it happens, but it resolves itself eventually. Always remember to CTRL-C copy your entire post before hitting preview, so that when it comes up blank, you can just paste it back and keep trying until it just decides to work.
ETA: I highly doubt it’s anything on the user side, so I wouldn’t bother trying to troubleshoot your system. My guess is it happens more based on the server’s load at the time.
By no means a comprehensive list:

Try emptying your temporary internet file folder. When it gets enormous, it can cause weird browser issues. I use Ccleaner.
Always. I’ve just assumed it was a normal feature of the board.
Ok, thanks guys.
Knowing it’s not just affecting me and there are suggested workarounds makes me feel slightly better regardless.
MacOSX 10.11.5, Firefox 47.0, Human Brain 0.b.137 … what is this magic you call “multi-quoting” … seems to be a global variable conflict somewhere because the interface keeps crashing.
