Reported shots fired at Chiefs Super Bowl rally [Feb 14, 2024]

When you gotta go you gotta go!

He was headed to the restroom when he heard what he thought were fireworks before he saw others begin to run away from the area. He walked away from the area but eventually returned to the restroom.

In his defense he was really drunk. Ok I don’t know if that’s really a defense.

So was this gunman one of the suspects charged–or just one of a large number of people with a gun there?

I am definitely not clear on that. On the day of the incident I figured there was a possibility of someone being tackled just because someone else yelled “That guy’s nuts, grab ‘em.” I have not seen any confirmation that the person in this video was arrested and one of those charged. There are some pictures circulating the internet that purport to show the suspects but the video isn’t clear enough to compare even to those unverified photos.

I do like that at the end of that video you see a woman calmly packing up her stuff as police run by. You always have to have your priorities straight.

Speaking of women picking up stuff, at about the 14 second mark you can see a woman in white, at the right side of the screen, bending down and picking something up from the ground. That woman is the wife of one of the guys that tackled the shooter, and she’s picking up the automatic weapon.

I hope this isn’t paywalled:

In video footage that has since gone viral, the father of two could be seen jumping on the fleeing man and dragging him to the ground before he could make it any further into the crowd. The suspect managed to briefly free himself, but was quickly tackled by a second fan. Filter then jumped back into the fray and began punching the alleged gunman’s ribs while Casey grabbed for the gun.

2 suspects in Kansas City parade shooting charged with murder, prosecutors announce

Two adults, who were wounded in the incident.

So when were these two arrested? [We heard about two juveniles and an adult being arrested–and later the adult was released. But this is the first I have heard of these two.]

How many people all together shot guns?

From this other source, both the suspects were in hospital so it must have happened over the weekend. This was announced just this afternoon.

And apparently yes, there were more people shooting.

It sounds like Missouri’s stand your ground law may be used as a defense.

“Collateral damage under Missouri law is excused if you’re actually engaged in lawful self-defense and there’s other folks injured”

Not surprising. I had half a mind to posit that it would be, but feared I’d be straying too close to unsupported speculation of a political nature if I did so without some news article or other to back me up.

And this is the problem with stand your ground laws: they let people start shooting when the situation is perhaps ambiguous (with such ambiguity as might be safely eliminated by attempting to retreat first if possible).

I had to read through to confirm that the new charges were not for firing the guns, but for supplying them.

I always look forward to getting out of the hospital. I don’t know if Dominic Miller feels the same.

Just released information from an incident that happened one day after my last post. Someone shot thru Andy Reids office window at midnight.
