They do have a history of being on opposite sides with the Russians!

Awkward phrasing on my part. I meant “final debate”. Trump can now storm in there accusing Clinton, the Democrats, cat lovers, the media, and little girls for trying to sabotage his election chances by throwing bombs and inciting violence.
This? From a citizen of the country that brought us a historical period known as the Reign of Terror?
I find it disappointingly predictable that Hillary’s supporters are being judged by the actions of *one *supposed Hillary supporter (the firebombing), but not by the concrete action of a *group *of Hillary supporters (raising enough money to repair the building, which is more than even *Trump *could be bothered to do- and this despite the fact that nobody yet knows who did it or why).
That graffiti was neatly painted and correctly spelled. Almost as if it had occurred in the Brooks Brothers Riot.
Yeah, I’ll go with false flag.
From the “Aptly Named Department:”
Forget it, Jake, it’s Drunky Smurf. For reasons known only to himself, he really enjoys playing the SDMB’s version of Oscar the Grouch.
Are you claiming that’s unique to America?
And every member of the democratic party agrees it is horrible…
Do you have a valid point?
Reichstag.
Look at the very first reply to the Elections thread.
To be fair, that “civil war thing” did indeed almost mean the end of the experiment. Certainly it was as close as we’ve come.
Well if one person of unknown affiliation on the internet said it, it must be true of all Democrats everywhere up to the highest level. Sure, they’re all saying the opposite but then they would say that, wouldn’t they…
Are you under the deluded impression tu quoque is any kind of adult response to anything, you ignorant cow?
Or that I’d defend that kind of political violence out of some sort of misguided patriotism? What did you mistake me for, a Republican?
Go back to ganging up on whoever the nonnie victim of the day is, Guinnie-poo, it’s what you do “best”. Actual logical argument is…how do I put this kindly? Not your strong suite.
Or go fuck a cactus, whichever works.
Okay. Now you look at post 25 to the Elections thread.
Yes. But that’s not what the phrase the “American Experiment” refers to.
The phrase, “The American Experiment” is a colloquial American-English expression referring to the system of government in which power is shared and passed around peacefully among democratically elected officials on a regular, recurring, basis. It is not a synonym for “The United States of America”. It is not an oblique way of saying, “our country”.
Perhaps the non-Americans who are clearly unfamiliar with what is, in fact, a reasonably common bit of American-English, ought to take a seat for a bit.
A reply by a troll. Big whoop.

How about “bite us”, instead?
It’s one thing to correct people on a term of art, we all do it, it’s another thing to be a sanctimonious prick about it.
And “reasonably common”? Google results are all over the place on what it means, actually. For a lot of them, it seems it’s just “liberty” or similar. Previous request to you for citations having drawn crickets, it seems.
No, I used up all my patience for explaining the phrase the first time I did it, when I explained it to you in post #7. Having to explain it again to the second non-American who thought it would be oh so clever to take the exact same lameass cheap shot in a thread about a sickening act of political terrorism means I don’t give a rat’s ass about your poor, sad, invective.
This is not a thread about non-American misconceptions about American English. You are, of course, free to keep shitting it up, but if we’re going to compare acts of sanctimony, you’re the one who dropped the ball in the first place.
You do realize that this “American Experiment” is how it works in every Western country, and many beyond, then ? You miiiight just be taking this whole American exceptionalism thing a bit too far :dubious:.
