May you rot in hell too. I don’t want this buried in a thread about the unfortunate incident that Mr. Moto just posted about.
Democrats have been targets too. I rounded up these in just a few minutes, but vandalism has been happening all over the country, ranging from signs being defaced and stolen, to fires being set.
It’s the second time that office has been targeted:

Here’s more:

Also in Tucson

And his mother follows before he’s even buried.

And of course, don’t forget the man who set a Marine van and himself on fire after learning that his son was killed in Iraq
The lies of this pResident and his minions are almost too much to bear for me, who has nothing at stake. I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose a loved-one in this war.
I think the point (IMO) could have been addressed in the other thread. There are plenty of assholes on both sides, and it’s a shame that they seem to be taking over.
Just to add another to the list, the Montgomery County PA Democratic offices had their laptops stolen last month. This was probably a plain old theft with no political motivations, but it seems strange that $50 left on a desk was untouched.
Agreed with World Eater. Are we so partisan now we have to have tit-for-tat Pit threads on electoral violence?
Also, not to dismiss the incidents reported so far, but are there any stats showing that the number of such incidents really is up from previous national elections?
Lastly, seems to me a simple public statement from both candidates that any election-related violence is totally unacceptable would go a long way toward resolving the problem.
I opined in the other thread that merely finger pointing wasn’t a terribly productive way to handle this problem. To that end, I denounced anti-Kerry and anti-Democratic vandalism, theft, and violence as well.
I think the real problem here is blind anger, which seems to be at a fever pitch. Some politicians on both sides have decided they have something to gain from ramped-up emotions.
I think this game will leave a lot of losers at the end.
Hey Equipoise, could you tell me what the point of including the last three articles was? The other articles were on topic considering the subject of your OP but those seemed thrown in just to provide some gratuitous antiwar ranting. Why are they included? They have sweet fuck all to do with what you said was the subject of your thread.
Yes, but the Dems have also nominated Frankenstein’s Monster as their presidential candidate, and we all know his views on fire. This was, indeed, a low-blow, even for an election year.
I think it’s ridiculous to ask to have this thread shut down. It’s as baldly partisan as the attacks.
If the title of the first thread were more balanced, this thread wouldn’t have been necessary.
Why don’t you guys ask the other OP to have his title changed to “Partisan attacks on campaign offices” rather than the sympathy-for-the-devil title it currently sports?
I don’t see anyone except me suggesting that this thread be shut down. This is a waste, anything in here can be addressed in the other thread. The boards may not remain faster if we post an opposing viewpoint thread for every thread.
I think they do have sweet fuck all to do with the subject. It’s a REASON why, if Democrats are cracking, these things are happening.
What the FUCK do the Republicans have to be angry about? They run everything, they own everything, they can steal and lie and do whatever the fuck they want with nary a frown from anyone but Michael Moore and some lefties.
I do NOT condone violence. I’m the most passive person and easy-going, friendly person imaginable, but that person is buried now, because of what Bushco has done, is doing, and is getting away with, and will get away with. It’s maddening.
I do NOT condone violence. I condemn it. At the same time, I understand it.
I ask again, what do Republicans have to be angry about? Why is there even ONE instance of vandalism or violence toward Democrats? Fear? Fear that “people” like Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage and Anne Coulter drum into half-wits and pea-brains? What the fuck? Fear of WHAT? More war? More death? More fascism? Calling US brownshirts?? Jesus. Some taxes will be raised and some social programs for poor kids will use up some of it. Whoop-de-do. That’s worthy of such hatred? Fear of gays? Fear of abortion? Hey, gay marriage never killed anyone, and abortion rates have gone down, from what I hear. Good birth control and sex ed classes and they’d go down more. Even the most liberal president isn’t going to go anywhere near the edge of what the hatemongers on talk radio squawk on about.
Republicans seem to embody fear, hatred, bigotry, racism, sexism, super-selfishness, greed and petulance.
Democrats seem to embody hope, caring, giving, selflessness, tolerance.
YES OF COURSE there are exceptions and I am sure I’ll be showered with them, but those are the core philosophies to me. Yes there are greedy Democrats and tolerant Republicans. Yes there are caring Republicans and bigoted Democrats. But as a whole, as a world-view and mindset, I see Democrats having good hearts.
We’re angry, but we’re angry for concrete, verifiable deeds done by this administration that have dragged this country into the mud.
And before someone gleefully points it out, I do realize that calling people “people,” “half-wits” and “pea-brains” does not jive with caring, tolerance and peacefulness but I’m willing to bear that burden. Limbaugh, Savage, Coulter, Hannity and the morons who keep them in business don’t earn or deserve my respect. Not that they’d care.
