I don’t doubt I can keep this up. I also don’t doubt that Scylla can find examples of threats against Republicans. It’s just that he’s a little bit late to the “I can’t vote for a party that has people who threaten others on it” festivities, because they’ve been going on for awhile against democrats. Indicating, once more, that he reached his conclusion based on his desire to find some kind of honorable reason to select Republicans with a complete disregard of actual evidence or coherent logic.
I don’t doubt that there has been an increase in violence and threats of violence on both sides of the aisle. That’s the world the right wing talk machines have built in the last 20 years. But pretending that it’s just the Democrats and that it’s the reason he’ll continue to support Republicans is complete and utter bullshit. Bullshit he may well believe, but bullshit nonetheless.
There is a small but still real number of violent assholes on the left and in the Democratic party. But it’s total nonsense to say that there are way more of them than on the other side – now or in the past – and if someone is trying to justify voting R based on this, I have trouble believing this is anything more than ex post facto rationalization.

Can sorta see your point. A faceful of golf cleats is certainly an unpleasant prospect, but a treatable injury. Eternal damnation, however, is a Permanent condition. But there is an historical tradition here, as well. The Boss (not Springsteen, I refer to the Original Badass from Nazareth…) issued such a threat in Luke 16:19-22.

Hell, the second link doesn’t even describe the items in its list of alleged incidents in sufficient detail that one would be able to tell whether a real incident described in a real news source was one on their list.
It is not mainstream, Asashi, the OP, has been excoriated quite a number of times on this board for going too far by many on the left. He is definitely on the fringe, and barely hanging onto the ledge. He is the canary in the coal mine, if we manage to talk him down, then we may actually be able to salvage things.
So, the “shoe thing”, where he explicitly threatened to stomp on his political opponent’s face with golf spikes, doesn’t bother you, because it is obvious rhetorical hyperbole, but the thread title, a title made by someone with no power nor aspirations for power, which contains no actual calls for violence, only of judgement, is somehow offensive to you?
Do you not see any sort of double standard here?

I think he means that the threat and violence was against Democrat politicians, not that it was a negative in the “democrats want to kill all Republicans” column. I’m assuming it’s an attempt at Scylla showing he can see both sides.
