Request for favourite websites

I have switched jobs and I no longer have all the iinteresting links and fun websites I used to have which I could peruse when things were quiet. I find that the afternoons tend to drag a little bit as I work later than I used to so I need something to pass the time.

I am specifically looking for good Tech news websites and fun and games. Anything else would be good for a look (as long as it is ok to look at while at work).

C’mon dopers, help me while away the long afternoon hours.

Well, Milk and Cookies is a seemingly endless archive of quirks and such. I’ve spent hours there, and it’s where I’ve found other great sites such as homestarrunner and maddox. With all the links and time needed to explore them, you could probably spend at least 4/9 of an eternity there.

I can’t play games at work, but these sites give me lots of interesting things to read instead.

Three of my favorite sites that don’t update anymore, but still have great archives of material:

Acts Of Gord

Brunching Shuttlecocks

Modern Humorist

Don’t forget good 'ol Fark.com, although they give NSFW warnings, I’d check it out outside of work and make sure it’s cool for your particular situation.

You have to try bored.com when you get…uhm…bored.

And I will second Howstuffworks.com

I love browsing around at memepool.

New York Public Library Digital Gallery (hundreds of thousands of old pictures and photographs)

Worth 1000 (Photoshopping site; it’ll give you a warning if a gallery’s not safe for work)

Kingdom of Loathing (an online role-playing game, of sorts)

Uncyclopedia (like Wikipedia without all the messy factual information)

Snopes (urban legends)

I don’t really know many tech sites, though.

It’s not a tech site, but Fark.com has a lot of news and photoshop humor. Unfortunatley, it also has too much, “teh”, “ghey”, “haxors”, etc…
http://www.worth1000.com/ has no news, but it has alot more photoshops.

You are where you live: How marketing people segment your zip code by catchy demographical names

History House: “The dirt swept under the carpet of centuries of history”

Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About: To me, the funniest document on the web.

You will never be bored again. There’s even an “escape” button: When your boss is heading your direction, just click it and suddenly you’re viewing page 37 of the “Journal of Design Technology.”

Don’t hit the other button, though, or a big noisy page will open that reads:

My boss is a weenie.

That’s a cool site. My husband is getting into Photoshop and isn’t a fan of Fark, so this is useful. Thanks!
