Requiem for Ralph - A Spontaneous MMP

Evenin’ y’all! Hope everyone had a good day. MBG you are such a dirty ol’ man! :stuck_out_tongue:

I went and had dinner. It was actually nice. I’m really glad I went. Ok, so it was a how’s the job search goin’/bitch session. Those are good things to have every once in a while though. So it was laugh a bit, commiserate a bit and bitch a bit. All in all a good thing. Oh and I had a quesadilla burger which was pretty good. Applebee’s, as I said earlier, is not a favorite place but some of the stuff on their menu now sounds pretty good.

In other news, I have a head ache. Didn’t start til after I got home. One of those dull achy ones too. Ick!

Puggy let’s hope nameless but could be named storm is not a harbinger of things to come.

Kiln is emptied. At least 3 pieces cracked - grrrrr! One of them was a really nice pot, but I can’t sell it cracked, so I guess I’ll make it into a little flowerpot for myself. One was a small vase that got some weird horizontal cracks - I’m taking that to class tomorrow to ask Ada about it - maybe she can tell me why it did that.

I’ll take pics over the next couple of days and they’ll get posted with the rest - link to follow. For tonight, I quit. We’ll probably hit the pillows early tonight. <yawn>

Someone, please, set phasers to Friday!!!

BrainPasture , this is just for you.

ducks & runs

 Gaaaaaah now I have that paranoid tingling in my ear. Gaaaaaah!

Went to go see Spiderman 3 with my brother today. Was not impressed. I was cringing half the time - mostly the parts where they tried to be dramatic/romantic. Did not work at all. On the other hand, the action scenes were awesome.

I have a house!

: squeeing with excitment!!! :

Last Friday I gave it one more shot at looking at houses after that I was giving up and going to find somewhere to rent. The foreclosure I had an offer in on was not going anywhere soon.

Looked at 3 more bad ones - that looked good on paper but no amount of imagination could save then we walked into the last one one the list.

Oh
My
God

Decorated how I would do it, new blinds, new lights & fans, new facuets (sp??) and a remodeled master bathroom.

I offered they accepted I close in 18 days!

: jumping from foot to foot :

2 pages, already? You all talk too fast!

Great OPs, both of youse. I was not so fortunate in my childhood dog (although, there was an advantage to being in the family in that the dog bit you slightly less often than he did strangers). Some dogs are great, though–sounds like we have several here.

It is indeed Nurse’s Week. Anyone who wants to hug me, may.
I am off to bed soon, after cleaning the basement all day. ALL day. Gah. And it’s not even that clean, really. We threw a lot of crap out, though. That felt good.
Hello to all. Happy Tuesday!

I already gave hugs to Mr. SCL for nurse’s week, but I have some left over, so…

{{{rigs}}}

Your mom was really neat. I’m glad she came along!

Okay, since we’ve been talking about pets, I know you’ll appreciate what our dear cat did to Lapin Blanc this evening.

We were sitting on my bed watching Dancing with the Stars, and both because it’s chilly and because Emily prefers sitting on a blanket-covered lap, had a light blanket tossed over our legs. Emily’s box is in the master bathroom, and I’d sprayed around the medicine cabinet where ants were crawling in, and to give the spray a few minutes to dry, had pulled the door mostly shut – it was still, however, carefully open to a catly width.

But apparently this did not please Her Majesty. So she walked over to Lapin Blanc’s lap, sat on her lap – and then proceeded to deliver a revenge pee right on top of her legs!  :stuck_out_tongue:

Fortunately, we both came out of our shock quickly enough to get the blanket off her and the bed before the pee soaked through. And Emily? Was quite unrepentant. She then proceeded to come over, stretch out on my lap, and give us a, “See, I MEANT to do that!” smug look as only a cat can deliver it.

Back from work. Time for bed soon. Love you all.

Yay on the house, ems! Isn’t it a great feeling? You’re already planning to take pictures, right?

Excellent OP’s, both of them. Pretty pics, kai. I’d love to visit sometime.

Can’t believe you have that much snow, enipla. I think I would have to cry. Is it normal or part of the weird weather that seems to be going around?

Hi rosie!

The only dog I had growing up was at my grandma’s house in Mexico. Her name was Lady and she was a dachshund. We got her when we were there for a year… I’ve had a budgie and a fish in the meantime.

MamaT, I just have to say “Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!”

Oh, and I like your new haircut! I snuck into the MAD thread and peeked at the pictures.

Hi LiLi!

Happy Nurses’ Week! Hugs to rigs and picunurse and any other nurses out there.

I’m tired! My weekend was very garden-y (lots of plant shopping and then weeding and digging and planning). Continued digging and weeding today. Also dug up and moved a few things around and started relocating daylilies to the edge of my driveway. Tomorrow - if the weather holds - I’ll start planting some of my new acquisitions. Yay!

I’m off to bed now.

Minefield great OP! My first dog was Lady, a tiny thing who loved my tiny self so much. She died in having puppies, and my aunt kept one, and Snoopy (her puppy) died when I was in college, at the ripe old age of 17.

My first cat, Madam, was killed by a bat.

Nava I am avoiding all hockey news, because here in Australia I can’t watch it the games, so following the news just makes me sad and homesick. My Wings were still in it last week when I could bear to take a peek, but the suspense kills me so I just don’t watch. I haven’t been home in two years.

Speaking of dogs, mine has been threatened by some guy who lives nearby. He’s started barking (which he never did much of before) because my next door neighbor has gotten new cats that are outdoors only and hang out in our yard. I’ve asked the neighbor to control her cats, but she doesn’t. It’s a mostly industrial neighborhood. The Strange Scary Guy (SSG) has been by three times, and I’ve tried to explain to him that we’re keeping Yoshi in at night as much as possible, but during the day he must be outside. We’ve been here more than a year, this is a recent problem. I’ve reduced Yoshi to longer leash walks and 10 min bursts outside at night and he’s never out after 9pm, plus, we’ve been working on getting him trained not to bark - which, as I said, we never did before because he never barked before!

So anyway, SSG came by once, and I tried to explain to him what was going on, but he said it just “pissed him off” and he wanted to complain to the council, so I said fine. We made more of an effort to keep Yoshi inside, but he has to be out during the day when we’re at work. We also take him to the dog park three or four times a week. The second time, I was in the shower and he said something to my 11 year old and scared the crap out of my kid, which pissed ME off, but I don’t know his name or where he lives!

Fast forward to this weekend, and SSG turns up (fortunately) when my husband, The Great Hairy One, was home. TGHO had words with him, because frankly, we know its annoying and we are working on it and the guy just isn’t reasonable, and he said to TGHO that he was going to poison our dog! ::eek::

So poor Yoshi is locked in the house all day. SSG had said he had complained to the council, and so I called - really, hoping that he HAD complained so that they would put us in mediation and I wouldn’t have to cope with him on my own - but he hasn’t, actually. And, in the middle of all this, someone keyed my car, so I’m sure it’s him. Saturday Yoshi was out for 30 min, long enough for me to mop the floor.

This can’t go on - I can’t get next door to control their cats - and I have complained to the council. Yoshi is barking less but since he doesn’t get out in the yard, he’s gone all protective when he IS out there. I’ve walked him three times as much as normal, so the upside is I will probably be more fit at the end of this, but…I’m really stuck.

We are looking for a house to buy and will hopefully be gone soon, but until I can get SSG’s name or number plate, we’re hosed. :frowning:

Cheers,
G

Did you see me? I waved to you!

Did you have a new haircut? :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course I saw you…I even waved back…but I was tired when I typed the above.

And now I’m more tired. Just not sleepy.

Arggggghhhhhhhhhh!!! I’ll bet LiLi’s stealing the extra sleep again!

Home from work. Time for beer.

Hi RoboRosie!!!

Gleena, hope you can avoid creepy guy. No Hockey?  I don’t think I can make it till September.

{{{rigs, picu}}}, I’d hug my mom, but she keeps moving away from me. Having a pediatric nurse for a mom sucks, you can’t fake illness.

House party at ems’s place!

Mork, My Aunt Mary’s shepard is psychotic. If you don’t hear from me after July 27th, Gracie got me.

puggy, I was praying for Hurricane season, not hurricane season!

Back to add: yay to BioRosie’s recouperation and on-going PT (though not for any pain)! BooFae, glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit to the Sikh Temple; you didn’t mention if you heard any kirtan (their spiritual music), though, so if not, you need to return another time for a service. I’d heard that people purchase Akand Paths (the reading of the Guru Granth holy book), but didn’t realize it was so booked up. Interesting visit for you, and thanks for sharing with us. And Happy Nurse Appreciation week to both Picunurse and Rigs!! And congrats to Ems on the house!

Okay, I just know I’m forgetting things again. Swampy, I hope your headache has subsided! Happy Tuesday all.

Sorry, forgot to add that bit. No, we didn’t hear any of the music this time but if they run the visit again then I’ll try to go back.

Back at work after our bonus day off, it’s not going to be fun. I opened my email this morning and my inbox is overflowing with stuff. Everybody wants me to do things for them…I’m going to have to start reminding them just how many hours I work!

Mornin’ Y’all! I’m up and caffienatin’. YAWN

The headache went away. I took some P.M. stuff and went to bed. I slept like a log and I woke up all bright eyed at five-thirty. Ima print off some resumes shortly. There’s a job fair thingy today and I’m goin’ just to see. One never knows. It says to dress “professionally”. I never know what that means. However, I am not goin’ to get all suited up just to walk around a room in a Hilton hotel, so I’m goin’ with the slacks and dress shirt “professional”.

Yay on the house ems! Gleena here’s hopin’ y’all find a house soon so’s you can get away from BSG. He’s an idiot.

I don’t know any nurses hereabouts, so all nurses here can consider themselves hugged, ok? {{{{our nurses}}}}

ems, yay on the house! Good oooOOOoooms sent to Gleena that you may find a good one soon.

Loving the pics, kai, I’m still slowly working my way through them.

Today I got two of those emails that make you wonder whether you’re the only sane person in a world gone mad and the big burly men with bad 'tudes are coming your way soon, toting one of those shirts with the long sleeves.

  1. For the last few days, one of my tasks has been to take some data from these pdf’s H generates, write it in an excel file with a given format, and forward everything to J. Some of the columns are always the same, so I hide them while filing the spreadsheet and expand them back before sending it. Today J returned a package because… there were hidden columns in the excel file! With cc to two bosses. Wouldn’t it have been faster to just click “unhide”? It took me less to do that than it took Excel to open the file!

  2. We have to fill in our hours in this web appy. This has to be done daily, which seems pretty strange given that, apparently, the People Who Need To See Our Hours cannot see it… I mean, if they can, how come we need to download the report and send it in at the end of the month? In any case, I sent my report on the 2nd (because the 1st was a holiday). I got an email from someone with a far-eastern-sounding name who as far as I know could be the janitor in our South Korean factory (do we have one?), berating me for not sending in my report. I’ve been here for 5 months; it’s the 4th report I send (it took almost 2 months just to get me setup for the reporting tool), and the 3rd person to whom I have to send it! Apparently every other person in the team also got a letter from this new one with the exotic name. But really, it’s a bit ridiculous, they keep changing personnel in accounting or payroll or whomever handles paying external employees, and we keep being yelled at for having sent our stuff to the person to whom we sent it the previous month

Ol’ y’all know who happens to be a nurse. I shall give him special “hugs” all week long.
