Oh for pete’s sake! Did they end their previous seasons with cliffhangers? I can’t remember.
Why not trust that your audience cares enough to tune in again without resorting to a cliffhanger? We know Tommy’s going to survive, and Sheila’s been turned into a nutjob who nobody cares about anyway.
So what was the point of all that? This show used to be original.
Season 1 of Rescue Me ended with the exact same cliffhanger as Season 1 of The Shield - Tommy came home and found his family had all run away, and he starts smashing stuff.
This used to be one of my favorite shows, but the quality has been rapidly declining. Besides, it’s barely even a cliffhanger. Season 4 is gonna open with Tommy (and possibly Shelia, but then again, who really DOES care) getting out of the hospital for minor injuries from the fire, and then life going on.
I was SO hoping the Tommy would get out through one door, and that bat-shit-crazy Sheila would run in through a different door to save him, and end up crispy.
I was really underwhelmed by this episode too. Not much of a cliffhanger, and not that much to care about. When it was over, I started to think about the shows I’ve been dying to see since five minutes after their season finale cliffhangers like The Shield or Battlestar Galactica, and how I just don’t feel that way about Rescue Me. I’ll still watch next season, especially since it tends to air when my other shows aren’t on, but I won’t be jonesing for it like I do for other shows.
What the hell was the point of showing Franco’s girlfriend’s brother being so smart if they didn’t follow up and have him taking the test in Franco’s place? What a waste.
So Maggie likes having sex in public. I’m already sick of it.
Yes, a very lame episode, and a very lame “cliffhanger.”
First Deadwood, and now Rescue Me end with a thud.
I agree with the lame vote. I can’t even think of a reason to watch the next season. When Tommy gets back together with his ex, they’ll just be going through the same whole thing all over again. Been there, done that.
