I will say that I enjoy the show, and that so far I’m on board with it all, but I worry that they’ll end up getting so many horrible things happening over and over as to become too outlandish and inaccesible.
We’ll see how the Finale ends up. The teaser certainly looks to be another doozy. It was a little bit predictable, but that doesn’t surprise me based on previous experiences with the show.
Anyone betting that Lou’s hooker GF bails on him sooner than later?
Well, the Canadian broadcast seems to lag behind the U.S. by several weeks (or maybe I’m just catching reruns). The last episode I saw showed the probey getting all overwrought at his broken up love-affair (and next episode previews show him getting violent about it) and Dennis Leary going to Ohio.
Where that fits into the overall story arc, I dunno.
Man, that was crazy. And Tommy kind of roughed her up after the miscarriage. I’m thinking that maybe Sheila is just one of those people you want to smack. I dunno.
I love the show, but I think the death of Tommy’s son was a little overboard. They’re setting it up for him to have more marital problems, which he could have had anyway. But I do think it will be interesting to see what happens with Tommy and the AA thing after this. It would be really cool if he stayed off the booze through all of this.
And yeah, I think Lou is going to get screwed (and not in the good way). He is forgetting that he’s playing with a snake.
Lou’s “friend” is going to put him in a situation where he ends up giving her a load of cash, then she will bail.
I say no way Tommy stays off the juice after what just happened. And let’s not forget that he is simply replacing one addiction with another by taking any pills he can get his hands on.
I like this show a great deal, but I will agree with Omniscient in saying that I hope they don’t get too many crazy story lines going at once. What they have right now is enough to keep track of.
Did anyone else get a laugh out of the way the boys handled the death of Tommy’s stepmom two weeks ago?
I like the characters as well, but considering how much shit got piled on in this weeks show, the characters are going to get overshadowed by the plot. Thats my main concern.
I miss the guys sitting around busting balls and generally being assholes all for a laugh. Don’t see alot of that happening anytime soon. Where exactly are they going to find comic relief?
They started out in the first season as a dramady, they’ll pretty much shifted to full-on drama. These past few weeks are plunging headlong into soap opera.
How long before Tommy’s daughter gets caught stripping at Scores and the who firehouse goes to check her out?
Does anyone know who sings the song that played during the last few minutes? Sounds so familiar.
Comic relief - 2 guys in locker room touching each others’ goodies and Laura walking in. “What’s up? (very casual)” “Ahhhh, you tell me.” And then the line about men’s testicles, something along the lines of it’s like a woman’s purse, once you put you hand in there and move it around, you’re gonna find something nasty.
I love this show. My lieutenant friend from the FDNY says it’s crap, but I don’t care. It rocks. And I don’t want Lou to get screwed (the bad type of screw), cuz I really really like him.
All the nasty, terrible things that have happened in two seasons, and this episode is the first time I’ve ever thought “I don’t want to watch this. This is too much.”
I mean if you go through the characters:
Tommy and Janet lost their son. The whole family didn’t get their inheritance. The Chief’s wife died. Proby’s worried he’s gay. Franco and Laura are on the skids. Shiela’s girlfriend is beating her. Lt’s hooker girlfriend is getting beat by her pimp AND he’s giving up his life savings.
And that’s just THIS episode. At some point “depressing” passes “entertaining”.
Well, only one more ep this season. Maybe they’ll bring back a bit of the humour for S3.
Hey, do we know for sure if there is a season 3?
Oh, and by the way… when Tommy and Janet rushed to the hospital, who was looking after the youngest daughter?
I can never seem to remember to watch Rescue Me. I’ve seen three, maybe four episodes, including this one. It always rocks my socks off, even though I’m kind of lost in the overall arc. I need the DVDs, bad.
