Resident Alien, aka Quincy, E.T

I’ve only had one cuppa joe, so that might explain why this popped into my head. Resident Alien is a little bit like My Favorite Martian. Both shows involve aliens on a mission who are passing for humans, and both have tell-tales that pop up at inconvenient times.

He had the coolest whip in town, and now he has a box of alien balls.

That legit made me snarf. Tudyk has the most amazing delivery ability for weird lines. I also enjoyed him in the hospital, especially when he told the doctor his real name. Takes a special kind of ability to deliver THAT line without cracking a smile.

Let’s hear him repeat it accurately.

I have no doubt he’s practiced until he can do it in his sleep.

Lenny Briscoe! That was great. So glad this is back.

There’s definitely something wierd going on here…

Me, too!

The show’s starring kids have had differential growth spurts over the show’s hiatus: the girl, quite a bit, and the boy, not so much. Not sure how that’s going to work out.

(Casting kids is a challenge; the Harry Potter movies had to deal with a Harry who remained small for his age and a Harry’s Best Friend (Ron) who eventually towered over Harry, creating a dynamic not present in the source material…)

“Have you noticed an increase in intellectual ability”?

“What”?

“That’s a no then”

Tudyk is amazing! I like how he unabashedly tells everyone at the hospital that he’s an alien and he’s going to kill them all but nobody believes him. And what a great cast overall! And my those kids have grown (in only a few days show-time). Loved the bit at the end with Nathan the octopus. “All octopuses can speak. They just don’t like to talk to humans.”

I love this show so much. It’s so weird and hilarious.

Are you kidding? Look at all that chest hair! (On the boy, not on the girl. Probably.)

BTW, they were promoting Astrid & Lilly Save the World during Resident Alien’s broadcast. It’s a new series in the slot immediately following. Anyone watch it?

Looks too silly for me.

I am glad Resident Alien is back and that the amnesia thing isn’t forever.

Where is he gonna stash that octopus?

I think I recall a basement deep sink. Probably a good enough temporary place.

Wouldn’t you need a saltwater aquarium? (And in the real world, wouldn’t the one in the restaurant be way too small for an octopus of that size?)

Both yes, but let us not get too picky. As long as he doesn’t throw into the lake, I am Okay.

Now I will be worried about this all week.

I watched it. Doesn’t seem to have the writing talent or target audience of Resident Alien; it’s more of an ‘appeal to kids who feel bullied’ show. Not that there’s anything wrong with that; it’s just that shows for kids don’t necessarily work for everyone.

Probably not an issue if said octopus is going to be the chef’s special on Monday.

Am I the only one who thought the octopus looked way bigger in the tank vs when Harry was carrying him? Like, more than just the water magnification effect would account for?
