Greenpeace hangs “RESIST” banner from crane near White House.
Make America sist again!
I have no trouble resisting Greenpeace.
Resistance is futile. Trump rules!
Although I much enjoyed the photo, not to mention post #2, this was a pretty juvenile stunt. I used to give money to Greenpeace, but I stopped a long time ago because of their approach. This isn’t going to convince me to start again, for sure.
I like it. It shows the Republicans that they haven’t fooled all of us, and is A OK in my book. Then again, I think Abbie Hoffman was one of the good guys.
I see from the article that the activists spent nine hours up on the crane. Is there a way of disabling the lowering mechanism so they can spend a few days up there and really get the message out?
Regards,
Shodan
I’m all for it. Regardless of what I think of Greenpeace itself, any way of visibly resisting this administration can only be a good thing.
They climbed up – the interior of the frame has staggered ladders and landings – and then locked themselves into the operator’s compartment. Presumably, once done, they’d just climb back down.
Oh, I know. I don’t even like Greenpeace that much- but I like them a lot more now! That was awesome what they did ![]()
You think the Republicans are/were behind Trump? Even more to the point, you think the Democrats bear no responsibility for Trump getting elected, what with their outstanding nomination process that resulted in Hillary?
In any event, the banner meant nothing.
Read any newspapers? The GOP is the Party of Trump now, rolling over on all his agenda items. Once upon a time people thought Congress would balk at Trump’s wall – instead we have Ryan promising it’ll happen and Congress will allocate the funding for it.
It’s Democrats’ fault Republicans elected Trump? So much for the party of personal responsibility.
I liked the banner, regardless of Greenpeace being the protestors (just can’t bring myself to like them).
Don’t you blame this cluster fuck on Democrats. Repubs had 16 other candidates from which to choose in your primary and you chose the orange jackass. Not once but twice.
Yes, to both comments here.
I fully expected trump would make a huge sign saying “Surrender Dorothy” and fly it over the WH as an answer. That is, I would if trump had a sense of humor.
I like the stunt. Just like I liked the women’s march etc. Any kind of peaceful dissidence is good. It is harmless, it is pretty much futile, but it provides a pressure release for the discontent that should not be bottled up.
The people who bear responsibility for electing Trump are people who voted for Trump, or people who didn’t want him who didn’t vote against him, nobody else.
Why, Yes I do.
On a side note: Nothing personal, really, but I have to appreciate your user name and its coincidence with this particular time in American political history. Seriously, not a slam of any kind, just something I appreciated.
That’s why I didn’t vote for either Hillary or Trump. I didn’t want to look in the mirror for the next four years and think I was even a little bit responsible for either of those cretins being in the White House. Let’s hope both parties find better candidates next time.
Don’t see the point of such snark. They’re opposing Trump. That is good.
The enemy of the enemy may not be my friend, but they can be my ally.
