Deleted, too close to a hijack.
This People article about Prince Edward representing King Charles at the funeral has a couple of interesting photos.
Edward was sitting next to Justin Trudeau. In the shot when Biden was arriving, they look like a couple of school boys sharing a joke. The shot when Trump arrived … not so much.
The latest news is that Michelle Obama isn’t attending the inauguration either, presumably for the same reasons.
Anyway, quite a few fundies are spamming YouTube with videos where they are doubting Carter’s salvation.
If Carter isn’t going to Heaven, nobody is.
Truth.
Maybe the fundies object to Carter leaving the Southern Baptists over the issue of the equality of women. At his death Carter was member of a congregation that has a female pastor.
More on that note:
Bumped.
Just the thing for your next letter, card or bill:
Countdown to a deranged post on Truth Social…
I like the stamp, but the USPS just put an idea in Trump’s head.
Nevermind waiting until his 100th birthday, I fear we will see a Trump stamp very soon.
(Probably with that ridiculous mugshot pose.)
May as well share my Jimmy Carter story.
My son, around three years old, started getting really enthusiastic about the subject of death, and human development, and aging. He was especially enthusiastic about old people. The older the better. So when Jimmy Carter turned 100, I shared his picture with my son, and he was so excited. Being the morbidly curious child he was, he wanted to Google when Jimmy Carter would die. I explained you can only Google answers that someone knows.
Flash forward a few weeks later, we’re doing something completely unrelated. He looks up at me and says, “Can Jimmy Carter play with me?”
It’s at this point I realized: he thinks I personally know Jimmy Carter.
Well, that was a whole other conversation. I talked about what being famous means.
And when Jimmy Carter died, my son learned all about it, and became deeply curious about Jimmy Carter’s children and how old they were. Never stops asking questions, that one.
Fitting I guess that one of our kindest presidents entertained a young child even in his passing. And I feel like he probably would have played with my son, if he could have.
Beautiful.
That’s a nice choice of portrait.
I understand that the crossed-out “Forever” is NOT an editorial comment by the USPS (but instead is intended to head off unauthorized reproductions). But it looks kind of bad, anyway.
I was at the post office yesterday and asked for these stamps, but they didn’t have any!
Too soon? rimshot
I was at another post office and they too did not have the stamps.
Yeah, I asked for one yesterday and the guy at the service window didn’t even know it had been released or even existed.
