I wouldn’t use one. In general they don’t do anything you can’t do yourself. If they give you a free assessment, then consider taking it and making the changes yourself. Most of what they can tell you, you can find out yourself from CV/resume guides on sites like monster, so don’t pay for it unless you’ve already exhausted those.
Most of my knowledge is UK only, but here are a couple of free US resources for redoing a resume.
