Well, the first quarter is finally over. Next quarter is mine! :mad:

Tonight was the longest lasting game we’ve had yet. Almost three hours and some exciting heads up action between Capn Pitt and Kyyrewyyoae but in the end Capn Pitt swept the chips. Congrats Capn Pitt!

Wow, I’m really surprised I beat out ** Kyyrewyyoae ** for the quarter. He sure as hell owned me last night.

And who’s this ** nesta ** character? :slight_smile:

Yep, those guys came to play last night, heck after 2 hours there were still 4 guys, maybe 5, with decent sized stacks. Nesta almost scored the most triumphant comeback, he was down to the cloth for quite a while and was up over 2K IIRC a while later.

A lot of fun, looking forward to the second quarter action!

Congrats Nesta. You played a really good game last night too. You should have been busted out about 2 hours beforehand. Let’s see you do it for the long haul. :smiley:

As for me, I got really lucky last night. It was really one hand with trip fours that put me in the lead for good. One preflop raise and I’d probably have dropped. But that being said, I thought everybody played pretty well last night and I just wanted to say thanks for the game.

Congrats to everybody on a solid quarter. I’m proud to take 3rd in a group like this. CapnPitt 's trip fours twice in a row pretty much did me in last night, but I had a great time playing. I’m looking forward to seeing x-ray climb out of the cellar next quarter.

Just a reminder that we do have a private Straight Dope forum at the PR Pokah! groups section. Certainly we want to continue to encourage new Dopers to join up but as this thread continues to get more and more unwieldly we might consider utilizing that forum.

Wow, I’m very surprised I came out ahead. I’m thrilled of course (yay bragging rights), but I also feel I don’t deserve it as much as some of you that were able to make more games.

There go my plans to fly under the radar. I feel like I have a bullseye painted on my back now. :smack:

I was very lucky last night, doubling up twice with weak hands in short order. I was short stacked very early, when my AQ hit the Q on the flop but ran into a backdoor flush or something on the river. I was sure I was going out first. My best hand of the night was in the initial check-down waiting for everyone to sit in, where I had QQ and made the set on the flop. Too bad I couldn’t reproduce that when we were down to three. One of the times I doubled up I limped in with 44, hit the open-ended wheel draw on the flop, went all-in with my short stack to take the pot right then if I could, got called, and won unimproved. Then I blew it all a while later hoping that Kyyrewyyoae didn’t make his trip tens on the flop, which inevitably he did.

This quarter has been a lot of fun, and there are a lot of skilled players teaching me lessons every time I play. I’m a limit player, so I’ll have to start hitting the SNGs now that I have a title to defend.

I’d just like to add that finishing third has filled me with boundless rage for Duke of Rat and nesta.

Also, I think the idea of increasing blinds by switching tables worked really well, and we should make a definite set of rules to define it. Say, once 4 people go out we raise the blinds to XX, once 2 more people go raise it to XX, etc. Relying on everyone’s agreement to raise them worked fine last time, but someone could get stubborn and hold the whole thing up.

I want to play tonight, but I don’t know if I’ll be there. Tonight’s All Class Night (sketches or skits or whatever put on by each class) here at school, and it’ll be my last chance to see one. I expect it’ll run longer than 10 PM, so I probably won’t be playing tonight.
