New official motto: Straight Dope poker - Where your play money spends as well as anybody else’s.
It’s Thursday again! And time for me to break out of second place and finally take down the Capn.
Dream on! It’s time for ME to regain my lofty place as first loser!
And where IS that weasle nesta??
It’s nice to be loved!
I gotta tell ya, it’s a lot of fun spending all your play money.
Are we gonna stick with the higher blinds to start? Was it 25/50?
Sam if you’re around earlier, someone (quite possibly me) could try to set up a table to check if you can “see” it. To wit, we’ll test to see if you’re play-money-only. That way it could save you the aggravation of finding out at game time that you might not be able to play. My email’s in my profile.
For those who may have missed it: PokerRoom has lost itself a customer. Doesn’t directly affect the play money tourneys but should give pause to anyone thinking about depositing.
HollywoodPoker.com is a skin of PR that uses the same servers and from what I’m told has responsive customer service. I’m Otto93 on Hollywood. If anyone’s interested in trying it out, email me and I’ll send you an invite.
I’ll have all of you know that pulling a nut flush against my King high one from here out is grounds for immediate firing. Don’t be that guy.
Bwaaaahahahaha…and I’ll lose no sleep doing it again to you tonight!!!
I see private tables.
I see no tables. Man, I hate academic networks.
Looks like I got there too late. I just logged into the game, and I can see six people playing. I requested to join, but it was denied. Ah well… Maybe I’ll make it in time next week.
Sam, sorry you couldn’t make it. Every week is good. We’ll see you then.
I can’t transmit
Sorry Sam. I would have let you at the table but I didn’t recognize your name. E-mail me your AIM screenname so I can put you on my buddy list right away.
Na-nook! Na-Nook! (well, if I can’t f’n win, I might as well root for the underdog!).
Looks like Kyy is still in the driver’s seat. Sure hated to CapnPitt and Yeticus go out before me
Congrats to Nanook. I had a good run at the beginning of heads up but the cards turned sour and I picked the wrong time to try to call a bluff. I am, however, proud that it took four kings to knock me out.
I’m getting a little tired of second place. I had the feeling all night I was going to end up number 2. At least I was looking at somebody else’s back instead of Capn’s.
On a final note, thanks to Capn for his rousing cheers during the final stretch. The only Capn I like better than CapnPitt is Capn Morgan. And Duke is a mf’r.
I see private tables.
I see dead cards.
Oh wait, those were my hands! Just be prepared, the Duck of Suck will rally, I see it…

It’s not even safe having a nut flush around here…ain’t that right Capn?
Oh man…salt in the wound! I never claimed the nut flush (that was xray’s undoing…beat by a straight flush which was the bottom line nuts). However, there was only one card that could beat by queen and that was the suited bullet. And of course, inevitably, indubitubly, unconstitutionally, and un-freaking-be-reallably, Yeti had it. Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you.
I, for one, see dead tables.
I see private tables that can’t transmit.
That was a pretty amazing heads up match I gotta say. The chip lead must have changed a dozen times all told. It was pretty fast and furious too, lots of aggressive betting and such. Catching runner, runner king on the last hand for a posse of cowboys was a pretty hot way to go out.
Yeti is no longer allowed to have Ace high flushes. So wrong that he knocked people out with that in consecutive weeks.
What I found most interesting about last night though was the contrast between some of the winning hands. We had four kings and a straight flush. On the other hand, king high and queen high also won. Was that our first straight flush? I vaguely remember there being another four of a kind, or am I wrong?
