Revenge Wears a Michigan Helmet (UDel vs. Appalachian State)

So #13 U.Delaware, the Fightin’ Blue Hens, the Ass-Kickin’ Chickens, have beaten the last of their rivals on the road to Chattanooga. Three weeks ago they whipped Delaware State 44-6 in the first-ever matchup between the two schools. Last week they came from behind at the UNIDome to snatch victory from #1 Northern Iowa in the final minutes. And an hour or two ago, the University of Delaware Blue Hens beat the Southern Illinois Salukis in a well-fought 20-17 defensive scuffle.

So here it is: Appalachian State faces Delaware next weekend in Chattanooga for the Division I-AA title. And why should Michigan care who plays Appalachian State (besides the obvious)? Because Delaware’s coach of many years, Tubby Raymond, played for Michigan, and when he came to Delaware, he brought this helmet design with him.

So, Michigan fans: turn on ESPN2 next weekend, mute the TV if you must, and root for the Blue and Gold as they thrash Appalachian State!

Wow, nobody seems to care about Division II (or whatever it’s called now).

I became something of a Blue Hens fan when my Aunt and Uncle came down from Delaware this Thanksgiving and we watched their first playoff game. On Saturday I watched their game because it was the only college football on. So I’m looking forward to the game on Saturday (which my aunt doesn’t have a lot of hope for, but you never know.)

BTW, I am NOT a Michigan fan.

I think you’re right about that! Hell, I’ll watch about 16 hours of “real” college football on any given Saturday, but this stuff thats on now? Feh! Can’t be bothered. Where the heck are these schools, anyway? Some kid’s treehouse?

…as long as LSU loses. Weak-tit operation…

It’s Division I-AA, and when next week’s game is over, we’ll know for sure who the best in the division is. It will either be the team that stunned Navy the week before Navy beat Notre Dame, or the team that stuck it to Michigan in the biggest college upset of all time. You could watch 16 hours of bowl games and still not know which of your “real” teams is the “real” champion. :stuck_out_tongue:

[nitpick]That is now the Football Championship Subdivision, officially.[/nitpick]

I-AA schools have always been damn good to watch. Well, except Ivy League schools. :stuck_out_tongue:

And this will cause prove what? That Delaware can do what Michigan can’t?
