Celebrity crushes of mine in the past- Fannie Flagg, Ellen DeGeneris

Real life crushes of mine- two girls (non-connected) in my church who later came out, also my ex-girlfriend went into a temporary lesbian relationship after we knew we were over (she now regards that relationship as an aberration & is back to liking guys now)

Now, I’ve had plenty of celeb & RL crushes on girls who were, are & probably always will be straight, but still, there does seem to be a pattern. Hmmm.

Anyone else have this?

Yep. I had to be told that a friend of mine was gay, about two weeks after we’d met. He isn’t swishy at all and I was starting to get calf-eyes around him.

There’s no kind of shame like the kind of shame you’re supposed to feel for having a straight crush on a gay man. Fortunately, this particular one habitually crushes on straight men, so he was nice about it.

Worse than a crush, actually. My ex-boyfriend before the guy who became my husband. We dated starting in high school and then went long-distance for college. He was raised super-strict Catholic and was deep in the closet through denial.

Celebrity? George Michael back in the late '80s, Greg Louganis ditto. Rumored: Kevin Spacey. I’m sure there are others I’m repressing.

I’ve had a crush on Jodie Foster ever since I first saw her in Bugsy Malone and Candleshoe. She was just this cool older girl who I really, really liked and 30 years later I feel pretty much the same . Alas, it was not to be…
