Revolting food pairings that work

My fiance’s mother, the first time we met, fixed me something that I was really revolted by, but I was anxious to please her and tried it anyway. She sliced an avocado lengthwise and put a big dollop of mayonnaise in the middle. I was fully prepared to do the “hide in napkin” thing, but it was actually quite delicious! Now, whenever I want a snack that’s full of fat (but it’s the good kind of fat!) I whip out an avocado.

Yummmmy.

My mother made this “dip” up for my oldest son when he was a little kid:

Cottage cheese
Grey Poupon mustard
Ketchup

Mix it all together and use Ruffles chips as the dipper. Talk about scrumptious!!!

I like dipping grilled cheese sandwiches in ketchup, too! My kids about flip out whenever I do that.

I also dip popcorn in Pepsi. And if available, immediately eat a piece of a Crunch bar. (This particular habit is always mostly done at a theatre…I can’t stop myself.)

I like ketchup on scrambled eggs. Also on Egg McMuffins. Just the expression on the McD’s cashier’s face when you ask for ketchup packets with your Egg McMuffin is priceless.

I wouldn’t dunk a grilled cheese in ketchup though, 'cuz that’s gross…I dunk grilled cheese in tomato soup.

…somebody here owes me a breakfast…

…'cuz I just lost the last one…

My favorite is chilli with a healthy portion of sugar on top.
My sister used to eat suger and mayo sandwiches (EWWW)

Ok, so are you telling me that you aren’t supposed to dip fries in shakes?!?! I always thought that was normal.

Actually, this sounds really good.
My favorite snack lately is pickled garlic cloves eaten with pretzel sticks. Yummmm…

I once stuffed cold pizza into an Ice cream cone and ate it…my girlfriend still makes fun of me for it.

The chef in me finds this oddly disturbing in an incredibly hilarious sort of way.

You bet! This is how I was introduced to avocados as a child. I still scarf them down the same way today. It’s gotta be Best Foods/Hellman’s or home made mayonnaise and a good ripe Haas alligator pear to get the proper flavor. It is one of the most satisfying snacks there is.

As to; “Strange Food Combinations (or) How To Squander Your 1,900th Post”, I’ll let you be the judge of my weird food tastes. That leaves; “Food Consumption, What’s Your Personal Best?”, to finish off those of you who aren’t totally grossed out by the first link.

According to Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader, before PBJ the most common combo was peanut butter and bacon. Mmmmmmm.
THAT’S what I was gonna say! LOVE em! AND—PB and MIRACLE WHIP.
PB and RAISINS—with or without the bread. Just mix em up in a small bowl.

I used to eat fried chicken livers with chunks of cheddar cheese, till my doctor told me to cut it out.

Now I love wheat thins dipped in plain yogurt.

Cheetohs and hot sauce!

American cheese and Miracle-Whip sandwich, with the Whip oozing out the sides,

Scrambled eggs with Muenster cheese and Barbecue sauce,

This one’s not my own, My step-dad used to make this: Fried Bologna sandwich with a fried egg, pickles, on white bread with butter on one side and mayo on the other.

Crushed saltines sprinkled on vanilla ice cream.

Hey! Don’t look at me like that!!

Parmesean Goldfish and Frank’s Red Hot. Mmmmm…

Or, Frank’s Red Hot and nothing. Just sauce. Heart attackingly good.

I laughed at TD when he told me about peanut butter on pizza, but damned if it’s not good. Especially pepperoni and sausage pizza. But, I reserve the right to laugh and point at him when he dips peanut butter sandwiches in chili or makes a pb and SARDINE sandwich.

I like pb and cheddar cheese sanwiches myself. Haven’t tried em grilled yet though.

Hmmmpf ! Amateurs

Here up north WE know how to eat French fries.

Its either with salt and vinegar, or a Québec specialty, poutine : French fries sprinkled with cheese curds and the whole covered by a gravy thick enough to be used for transmission oil. Hmmm, Hmmm !

Worcestershire sauce on potatoes.

Peanut butter and bacon sounds good, though. Very proteiny.

okay… you all asked for it!
-french fries and Miracle Whip
-salt-n-vinegar potato chips and vanilla ice cream.
-white american cheese and molasses.
-feta and corned beef on multi-grain bread w/Miracle Whip.
-cranberry sauce and chili (don’t mix 'em, just eat 'em together.)

Ex-husband used to dip bologna/mayo/onion sandwiches in Nestle Strawberry Milk.

Please note the judicious use of the word EX in the above post…

My ex-girlfriend’s mother used to eat mashed potato and mayonaisse sandwiches.

Cold pizza smothered in mayo…
