Revolting food pairings that work

You people ain’t right.

I reiterate the EX…

My own culinary deviance is expressed in the Leftover Omlette - 3 eggs, and anything in the fridge that I don’t have enough of to eat by itself. No rules - hey, if I cooked it in the first place, I like it, right?

However when served a “real” meal, I eat one item at a time, no mixing.

I wouldn’t dunk a grilled cheese in ketchup though, 'cuz that’s gross…I dunk grilled cheese in tomato soup. **[/QUOTE]

Oh I absolutely love grilled cheeses in tomato soup. Ever tried tearing one up in little pieces and putting them in chili? God…it’s heavenly…

vegemite and wasabi on oyster crackers! To die for!

Slim Jims and Grey Poupon. Yum.

Go ahead and double-dip; I won’t mind.

I like to eat sardines and chase them down with chocolate milk. How is that for revolting?

Cauliflower dipped in ketchup

cottage cheese with tobasco sauce. It is great.

An “egg omelet”, pieces of hard-boiled egg mixed into an omelet.

Cinnamon rolls dripped in chili.

Ripple chips dipped in chocolate thinks she needs to try that with dill pickle

dill pickle chips fyi

I have a friend who eats grilled cheese dunked in chocolate milk…I tried it and was grossed out.

i used to do the grilled cheese and tomato soup thing, but once tomato soup goes in reverse–ick. Never again.

I also realize that I like eat chili in an odd manner–I mix chili and rice, add crushed saltines and soy sauce. And cheese and sour cream…nummy.

Cheetohs mixed with caramel corn.

Woo-hoo! First time any of my threads has got onto a second page! In fact first time one’s got past 5 replies!

Do you have bread pudding in the US? That sounds a bit like what the bread-and-milk meal was. Not quite. And whoever put pineapple on a pizza in the first place was aiming for this category, but we’re used to it now. Delish.

Also, for something really unique you guy’s’ve gotta try my homemade cafe. Big mug of instant coffee. Top with squirty cream. Pour on hot-chocolate powder.
Revolting. Totally impossible to enjoy. Not even like coffee. Ah, phooey, I’d’ve been better off asking for revolting food pairings that DON’T work. Any suggestions?
ps: here’s my topical meal. Go into a chinese restaurant, order a western dish, carefully construct the most complex new food you can (m&m water with floating pimento-face or something) then throw it into someone else’s chinese meal and spend th’next twenty minutes demanding that they release your pimentos. All the time refusing to pay for the Kyoto-style air-freshener you bought on the way in.

:snicker:

Oh, I’m sorry. Like I could run a country any better. Forgive?

OK, ready for this one? Peanutbutter and MAYO. Nuttin’ better. Seriously. That little mayo tang gives the PB a great flavour. Better when toasted, too. I’ve also read a recipe for a Thai peanut sauce that uses mayo for smoothness.

Tang & Iced tea- yum.

Avocado with plain white vinegar and salt. Great appetizer.

Sliced hot-dogs cooked in Worchestershire sauce until caramelized. Stick with toothpicks and serve- sorta like Hawaiian meatballs for poor white-trash.

Soy Sauce as a salad dressing…Better yet, liquid Amino’s.

MMMM…PB&M…gotta go make one of those…

Chocolate icecream and cheese curls (the puffy kind). Great stuff! My coworker says that is no longer food though.

My brother came up with sweet potato and sausage ravioli filling. Excellent topped with fresh tomato salsa.

The locals here freak out about ham salad.

I work with 3 pregnant women right now. The other night, I go into the middle of a ‘weird food cravings’ discussion. Most all of these nearly made me sick just hearing about them, but they insist that these combinations are all quite yummy.

*fries in hot fudge
*pickle mcflurries (ewwww!)
*tuna fish on top of pizza (but the pizza has to be room temp-it’s just nasty on hot pizza…)
*doritos and sour cream
*fries dipped in mayo (quite common, but still yucky)

I know there were more, but those are all I remember right now.

French fries sandwich on toast with butter.

Saltines with sugar on them.

Chocolate covered pretzels.

My sister-in-law’s speciality, homemade vanilla ice cream with creamed corn in it. She’ll eat corn in or on anything.

Forgive me if these food pairings have been posted before, but I couldn’t read the whole thread. We’re under a prohibition against using the Web - which I get around by reading the SDMB using lynx - most people around here don’t realize what I’m doing when I use it. They just think I’m reading text files. I can’t post using Lynx, though, so this is a hit-and-run posting.

Salt n Vinegar potato chips with Plain M&Ms. Alternate eating a chip with eating an M&M. Exactly the right combination of sweet, sour and salty. Discovered this one in the midst of a contact high.

Chocolate milk and pepperoncini. Mmmmmmmm!!!
