To be sure, there are a lot of end-of-the-word scenarios that are perfectly acceptable. You could, for instance, go with the standard period (.) Then there is the ever acceptable exclamation point ..!.. Question marks also work, even in conjunction with other possible end word scenarios ??!?? or ..?..

You know personally of someone who was tattooed at Auschwitz, and maybe the woman who got out in the other OP you linked is the same woman, or a different one. Either way, the point is, forcible tattooing for means of identification is not funny to you because of someone you know personally that had it done in a real-world nightmare situation.
You and I agree, actually. You failed at processing the humor in the column. Maybe your reason is valid, but you can’t see the humor.
Would it help if the column had said people who deny climate change should be fed to sharks? Or be disemboweled with a rusty cheese grater?
I know someone personally who was disembowled by a rusty cheese grater! And the cheese grater didn’t even get life…it got off with 10 years and came out a new grater, having lost the rust and (supposedly) paying it’s debt to society.
I wouldn’t find that funny at all. Now, if the article said that all warmalarmists should have their yoohoos (or hoohas) painted gold…yeah, I could see the humor there…
