Just discovered this show. Came to it by way of Gravity Falls, which my kid loves & got me into. Someone I was talking to said ‘if you like Gravity Falls, you will love Rick and Morty - there’s a lot of similarities, and even some crossover stuff’.
Well, they aren’t similar in tone, that’s for damn sure. Heh. Rick & Morty are a lot darker - well, as you would expect, as it’s not a kid’s show. But yeah, it’s a great show, I’m loving it - so inventive it blows my mind. Not suitable for my kid to watch yet, unfortunately.
It is awesome how many similarities there are between Rick & Morty and Gravity Falls. I would not be surprised if the creators of the two shows, who are apparently good friends and do voice work on each other’s shows, came up with a basic concept together and basically decided to make parallel variants.
And now, courtesy of Comic-Con, enjoy Rick and Morty’s (very NSFW, link spoilered) re-enactment of an actual court transcript from the state of Georgia;
The dig at Jerry works in a second way - when his family hears the details of the message that Jerry supposedly sent, they’ll know it wasn’t really Jerry - and that way Jerry’s family won’t hate him for turning in Rick.
