I don’t know much about Reddit, but I also think the whole episode was amazing. Dr. Wong was specifically amazing because she showed everyone that Rick isn’t always as clever as he might think he is AND not everyone else is stupid and/or insecure.
I thought The Old Man and the Seat totally fucking rocked. There’s a lot going on. I especially liked how Morty was clearly the knowledgable, competent adult by the end of the episode.
I wasn’t a fan of Pickle Rick either. On the other hand…
Number of Emmys won by Pickle Rick: one
Number of Emmy nominations for all other episodes put together: zero
I was under the impression that Rick “didn’t do” time travel. In “The ABCs of Beth,” he gets some pizzas from Arnaldo’s, which is closed for the night in their dimension, and then says, “By the way, that wasn’t time travel.”
Aw, I at least think a little better of him for being willing to voice himself - or an alternate-universe version of himself - on RAM.
Loved the Star Trek V and Raiders of the Lost Ark references in the latest episode. And a boobytrap-proof suit would come in pretty handy (although I couldn’t quite make out what the undead queen said after “Who dares disturb my sleep” and before she gets crushed - anyone?). Also loved all the twists and betrayals and flashback-reveals - a perfect deconstruction of heist movies even as Rick explains just how much they bore him. LOL. And Prof. Poopybutthole kicks, er, butt!
Favorite lines:
“Total waste of snakes.”
“More like TryingTooHardCon.”
“Let that ointment sit for ten minutes, or you’ll die. Don’t let it sit for twelve, or I’ll have to hunt down what you’ve become.”
“Labcoat: rip off Doctor Strange!”
“Your boos mean nothing - I’ve seen what makes you cheer!”
“Every breath I take without your permission raises my self-esteem.”
“You son of a bitch. I’m in.” (repeated ad infinitum)
“Let’s get ready to *not *rumble. Bet you you didn’t see that coming.”
I’m posting quick thoughts on One Crew Over The Crewcoo’s Morty without reading anyone else’s thoughts.
I loved it and thought it was the best episode of the season and perhaps one of the top 5 episodes of the whole show. Loved how it portrayed heists and how dumb those movies are. Loved everything about it. I laughed a bunch of times and will now forever be saying, “Your boos mean nothing to me. I have seen what makes you cheer.”
It could’ve used a final double-cross where it turns out that Rick’s plan was all part of Morty’s plan to get him to leave him alone about his heist novel.
