Never watched Community.
Favorite “clip” from this episode would have to be Summer discovering she’s not attractive enough to be abducted by the grabby hands, with Principal Vagina rolling up on his bicycle and sympathizing with her about it.

Sort of - it was last season, where the show was “taken over” by hacktivists who proceed to show the show’s worst moments - a lot of which were created just for the episode. (To hide the storyline before it first aired, the title was changed from “Love, Hacktually” to “Lisa the Boy Scout,” and the episode begins with a scene where Lisa wants to join some Boy Scouts-type troop before the hacktivists interrupt it.)
The Hollywood Reporter has an interview with the new voice actors.
They sound like a couple of pretty ordinary guys who managed to get the opportunity of a lifetime. Cardoni mentions that the Jerricky episode was a challenging one since he had to voice Jerry-as-Rick and play off of Chris Parnell’s Rick-as-Jerry without Parnell actually being there, and Belden mentions saying “fuck” in his Morty voice thousands of times to try and get it right, which are both pretty amusing little anecdotes. I hope this opens up a lot of good things for both of them.
This week’s episode was kinda mid, really. It feels like they felt obligated to do one Summer-centric episode per season, and they had four or five half-fleshed-out ideas that weren’t strong enough to build a 22-minute story off of, so they decided to do all of them at once.
My thoughts pretty much exactly. The new season isn’t atrocious, but Rick and Morty is ranging from “meh” to “amazing”. This year, the spaghetti episode was outstanding. A few others were solid, but a few were also only OK.
Open your mind!
I just now watched it. There was a glitch for those of us who bought the season through Amazon Prime and it wasn’t available until an hour ago.
I liked how Morty and Summer bonded as siblings.
The tag with the gold mask perverts from Squid Game probably got the biggest laugh of the episode for me. “You have a wife?”
That. Was. Awful. Like, really, one of the worst things that I’ve ever seen.
It was too bad to even take seriously, even for R&M, which I think was the point. It was obviously a send up of how bad the transformers movies and such are. So in that sense, I feel it worked and I got a few chuckles out of it. But yeah, not one of their best.
i do typically love Rick & Morty, when it’s clever, dumb, and frequently both at the same time.
This one … Y’know, I appreciate the puns and their commitment to the bit. I rather like that the whole way through one’s expecting a rug-pull that never happens, not even a tag with Rick involved. It’s also quite entertaining to peek in on the reddits and whatnot to see the rabid fans totally lose their minds at how completely subversive this episode was compared to what they were expecting to get.
Mischief managed, that.
I don’t know what y’all’re talking about. That episode was PERFECTION and I was grinning like a wild man for the entire time.
Loved it.
Looks like they got the thought provoking, character development heavy, canonical bullshit out of the way in the first half of the season and now it’s all just for fun.
Okay, that was a very solid episode.
Agreed. Solid 10, no notes. “Breaking into the afterlife”, “Pokemon Bigfoot”, and “Rick LARPing Dark Souls against the Pope” shouldn’t all have fit into one episode, but it worked. I couldn’t stop grinning the entire time and the tag where Feral Rick has somehow become Pope (POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPE!) sealed the deal.
Yep. Also loved the Jerry cold open.
Fun episode, not my favorite. But this is the kind of episode I do like. Just kind of quick moving with a lot of stuff happening.
I still think the spaghetti episode was the best one of this season.
Have you ever seen the animated show Jeff & Some Aliens? It had some of the same vibe (average guy has mundane problem, technologically advanced person “solves” the problem with super-science, everything goes to hell after that).
Solid enough season finale.
