Space Beth was created because Beth wanted to go into space and have adventures, so she got cloned. Either the current Beth on Earth is the original and the one who has space adventures is the clone, or the original Beth left for space and the one on Earth is the clone. We don’t know for sure which is which, and not even Rick knows (he intentionally mixed them up during the cloning process).
Oh, OK. Are Morty and Summer the originals from the pilot episode? I wasn’t sure since we’ve had them bury themselves before.
As I recall, in an early episode their original Beth, Summer and Jerry died. These are replacements. They found a universe where the R and M for the new crew blew themselves up or something and they buried the bodies. I think that this is the third Jerry.
I have only seen each episode once or twice so my memory could definity be faulty.
No, they were alive but left in the “Cronenberged” dimension.
Currently, Morty is from the original dimension we saw in the pilot; Summer and Beth/Space Beth are from the replacement dimension Rick and Morty went to after the prom episode (or the thing with the squirrels); Jerry is from some other dimension, after getting switched due to the tag mix-up at the Jerryboree; and Rick is from the dimension with the depressing family backstory, and at some point came to the dimension seen in the pilot. Whew!
What about Evil Morty? Was he Rick Primes’ Morty?
They were alive but Summer and Beth died when the citadel Ricks froze them and they died during thaw. Jerry lived on, but was later killed by the Rick that “our” Rick is hunting.
ETA: Solar Ricks episode. S6 Ep 1
No, he (according to a quick refresher on the Wiki) had his own Rick in his debut episode, who he was controlling with cybernetics or something.
Yeah, I know, I just didn’t want to get into the further details (which you have helpfully provided).
There was a theory that Jerry was not switched, but they stuck with that Jerry and he went with a different Rick and Morty at that point as well. How that would ever get resolved or lead anywhere, well, after this time, it seems an unlikely thing which would happen,
(It might be to do with paying close attention to ticket numbers in the jerryboree episode)
But who can really keep track of all that stuff? I am sure Rick does not bother…
I’m a little sad that this thread hasn’t been active this season. So far all the episodes have been in the very good to great range.
Aside from the side swipe at David Zaslaw, the most recent episode was a letdown. Jerry was so stupid that he came across as a confused toddler in the early scene. Also, they seemed to have retread much of the same ground as South Park’s episode about Easter, the Catholic Church, and Dan Brown.
I liked the Easter episode, though I think dropping it as a surprise at Easter time might have been more fun.
That might’ve been the intent, but Cartoon Network reviewed its violent and blasphemous content and decided to postpone it until June, when there would be less chance of controversy. Also, judging from the last few minutes, I get the feeling Harmon hates doing holiday-themed episodes.
Of course Jerries all use the same PIN.
Laughed out loud at the punchline to the five-o’clock shadow bit
Hello, all.
I have never seen Rick and Morty before and am going to start it (from the beginning, obviously).
I’m thinking of ranking them (each episode) on a “best, IMO” to “worst, IMO” list, but not sure this topic is the place to do it or that posters won’t dislike it and think of it as “hijacking” the topic or something like that.
Let me know if you’d like my ranking and thoughts on each episode as I watch them, first time viewer, from the beginning and in order (obviously)
That’d be great! I’d love to see your thoughts on each episode.
Funny enough, I also made this a status on FB (about doing it on there), but as you only need one place to read it, this would probably be it, heh.
Okay, well… I watched the first two episodes. Already hooked. Very good show. Very smart and clever. Has great black and dark humor too, which is a plus.
Ranking list so far, BEST TO LEAST BEST
––Lawnmower Dog: This one was wayyyyyyyyyyy better than the pilot. The pilot was okay, but this one was a huge step up in many departments like a bit better writing, being a bit more witty, clever, and humorous, and good character development. Overall, a great early adventure for the duo and family as a whole.
––Pilot: This was good, but a bit weaker (IMO) than the second episode. I get it, they were still fleshing things out and testing the waters here, you’re gonna have that with the first episodes of any show, so it was good as is, I liked it more than I didn’t, although some parts were a little more lackluster (constant burps, rambling monologues, meta talk that does nothing but shill the show I’m already watching)….the second episode had none of that and vastly improved, IMO, what they started building here. Not bad at all….just…not overly great.
I will continue to ADD IN episodes to this two entry (so far) list, incorporating them among the others already on the list, ranked (like these two) to eventually get a whole list of all of them, best to worst.
I wish I could watch the series for the first time again.
