I have never, ever heard of a specific hate group or violent right wing antigovernment group that uses the circle A. The only references I’ve been able to find cites the same ADL report, which isn’t exactly specific.
Does anybody have any actual examples of the cirlce A being used by “anti-ZOG” types?
But if you’re asking, “What are the names of some specific anti-Zionist groups that use the anarchy symbol?”, then I can’t help you–a Google search for “anti-Zionist” keeps bringing up various Jewish anti-Zionist websites, which isn’t the same thing at all.
I think we’re looking at a movement that’s very deep underground indeed. It’s hard to find on Google without a name to Search under.
Now I suppose the next poster to come along will post a big fat link to Anti-Zionists United of America, Inc., with a whole web page just for Anarchy Symbol 100% cotton t-shirts.
anachy is a state of mind anyone who says there an anachist is a hypacrit, i agree the governmnet sux ass but even with anachy you pick a leader guess what thats a form of govenment
Oh, and black455, I am just as confused as you are about the whole anarchy A thing. I think anti-ZOG groups would have an easier time using a swastika than an A to “post their mark.” Sometimes ya just don’t want to be affiliated with the taggers and their messages.
Several years ago, when I was living in Albany, NY, there was an incident in which a synagogue was trashed. A circle-a spray painted on the walls was just one element of the damage.
However, IIRC this was thought to be the work of some dumb drunk teenagers rather than any organized anti-semitic group.
I’ve seen that site. Interestingly enough, it plagarizes the ADL page.
Getting warmer, but if that’s what the ADL is talking about, they really need to check the definitions of “violently antigovernment white supremacists” and “dumbass kids.”
I’m beginning to think the ADL just made the who thing up, myself. Or at least streached the truth. The real anarchists didn’t take too kindly the ADL page:
I’ll try to clarify:
Is there any evidence whatsoever that the ADL’s assertion that the (A) is used by members or groups “in the white supremacist movement who are violently anti-government because of their conspiratorial belief that Jews control the government” is true? I know that the difference between hardcore white power boneheads and hellraising teenagers is essentially a qualitative one, but I find it hard to believe that the ADL can’t see it.
Even if there is evidence (and I haven’t seen any), IMO that hardly makes the anarchy symbol racist. Unless we are to consider the cross a racist symbol, because many of the hate groups display Christian symbols as well.
Yes, but these are specific, easliy identifiable variants of the cross. They don’t appear to be saying “the cross is a racist symbol,” only “these types of crosses.”
Imagine the reaction if they put a plain, “normal” cross on their site and then included a statement like “Although the symbol is more often used by non-racist Christians, a cross is also a symbol sometimes used by individuals in the white supremacist movement who are violently anti-government because of their conspiratorial belief that Jews control the government… The majority of people who identify with this movement consider themselves non-racist or anti-racist…”
It’s rather like calling the American flag a racist symbol because some Americans happen to be racist (or chose ANY country’s flag).
That’s very close to what they say about the Celtic cross. Heck, I’ve used the Celtic Cross more than a few times in artwork and such. I use it because first, I’m a Christian of Irish decent, and second, I happen to think it looks neat.
