Yes, you would be subject to investigation, the possible outcome of which might include fine and/or jail. That is different than saying you will automatically be fined and jailed. I’m sorry you fail to understand that punishment normally isn’t automatic in the adult world.

Not exactly an “Oops!” yet. There’s all kinds of diversionary crap going on in all directions, whether intentional or not. I still think it’s damn hinky to even think about declaring it suicide when the man’s hands were tied together at the wrist, I don’t care how loose it was (other than completely untied).

I don’t buy it. The whole case for the “suicide” is that he didn’t have any defensive wounds and he wasn’t taped up very well. There are far better explanations for the lack of defensive wounds–maybe he had a gun to his head and really couldn’t fight back, for instance. (My understanding is that this was not a guy who has been in a lot of fights.) And I wouldn’t expect a bunch of stoned rednecks to perform a quality tape-up job.
It’s entirely possible that the “law enforcement officials” they talked to aren’t involved in the investigation at all. This is mostly going to be handled by the state cops and the FBI, so a Manchester or Clay County deputy might very well be passing along the gossip that’s been going around town. Even if they do have the skinny, it’s just speculation, and pretty weak speculation at that.
