This dude picks out the top ten worst films of 2023.
I see his point a few times, but then his comments about women, “woke” etc start to sound more and more bigoted to me.
What do you think?
When Hollywood movies are bad, they are BAD — sadly, that downward trend is getting worse, not better. This year saw the release of a handful of bad films that absolutely no one wanted to watch; some of which could be considered to be some of the worst films seen in the last two decades.
I skimmed the rest of it. It’s true that his author photo doesn’t literally feature him in a white hood; is that why you’re asking whether he’s a bigot?
Can’t he be both? He’s not wrong about many of those films being the “worst” of 2023. But his reviews are mostly rants with undertones of racism, misogyny, and religious fanatacism.
I haven’t seen any of them, or even heard of most of them, but I HAVE heard that “The Marvels”, “80 For Brady” and “The Color Purple - The Musical” were dreadful.
A movie can check all the socially correct boxes and still be a stinker.
When I was checking my phone for today’s news, his review came up. I have never heard of this guy or that site. And me saying the author is quite possibly a bigot is hardly a gesture of respect.
Yeah, I got to the first of presumably more "woke"s and “the mainstream media” and stopped there. I’m not wasting time reading thru the maunderings of some dufus with an axe to grind on the culture wars.
Out of the entire list I’ve only seen “Knock at the Cabin,” and granted, most of these films sound dreadful, but this line: “This is a film that only appeals to rich New York Joe Biden voters and nobody else” pretty much sums up his overall agenda.
I’m sure a motivated bigot can find a trans costume designer or a nonbinary key grip among the credits to support their thesis that the woke agenda is destroying the film industry. And the lunch tacos on set were probably made by an illegal alien who voted twice.
