He’s mentioned having bad depression in the past so hopefully it wasn’t anything to do with that. Hopefully he went in his sleep and there was no pain or sadness. He was a swell guy. 
I didn’t know him much outside of the game room, but I really enjoyed the interchanges between him and I (as Nail and Goethe respectively) in the Shadowrun campaign Mosier was running.
My regrets to his family and others who knew him.

I’m so, so sorry to hear about this.
Not that my experience necessarily has any bearing on this situation, but something similar happened to a good friend of mine in college. He developed an inoperable brain tumor and never told anybody about it. It *really *hit me (well, all of us) hard when he went. Maybe something similar was going on here.
Autolycus RIP. I’m mostly a lurker and never interacted with him, but I appreciated his posts. He was one of the gems of the SDMB.
And the first poster in that thread was Santo Rugger. 
For another poster, that might be kind of crude, but Auto would have laughed his ass off at it.
Rest in Peace. I don’t recall any specific interactions with Autolycus but I certainly recognize the name, and the sentiments put forth here are a testament to the person he was. Condolences to his family and friends.

Lets just say he had an inauspicious start to his time here. He redeemed himself quite nicely after that.

In the end he really was a nice guy (not a NiceGuy ™).
He shared a little too much information about a personal… experience, and got tons of teasing about it afterwards, which he took with very good grace and good humour.

A poster I recognize well. I am sure we probably argued about some things at some point. I am also sure we probably had plenty of posts where one or the other or both of us enjoyed the interaction whether it be humor, useful information, or insight.
