“Did you know … sharks only attack you when you’re wet.”

“Did you know … sharks only attack you when you’re wet.”

A nice piece by Sean’s longtime friend Harry Hill
Yes I thought that was rather lovely from Harry. It is clear from all the plaudits coming from his fellow comedians that they were huge fans as well as friends.
Very sad, I knew he wasn’t well but still a damn shame. You always knew that his presence on a show was going to lift it, very funny guy. “bemused troublemaker” that’s what I always got from him.
Crushed by this news, I loved Sean Lock. I knew something was off for the last couple of years but didn’t see this coming.
He was so irreverent, but never in an over-the-line way like Frankie Boyle. I loved his style. He and Jon Richardson were great foils for each other both on 8oo10c and Cats Does Countdown.
“Well, Jimmy! We all like to put a bit of money away for a rainy day, but I think you’re more prepared than Noah!”
I forgot this was him! I still quote this as if it is some brilliant fact. It’s a great joke.
One of the best British comedians of his generation, if not the best.
We recently had a thread on “tight” bands. I think Sean Lock is an example of a very tight comedian.
To be fair, Jimmy Carr has always been willing to take the same shit he so easily dishes out to others. He’s a good sport about these things.
I mentioned ‘Blue Rat’ from Fifteen Storeys High. Of course it’s on YouTube.
Note that Lock’s co-star is a young Benedict Wong, now older, heavier, balder and a helluva lot richer thanks to playing the creatively-named “Wong” in MCU films.
Here is Sean Lock’s great “childrens” book.
