RIP Cokie Roberts

Damn.

Just came across my news feed as well. She was always a favorite and a joy to listen to.

Crap, really?

Damn. Just heard a report by her this past week on NPR. She didn’t sound very well.

Damn. She was one of the best.

They had a nice long segment on NPR this morning.

I thought Roberts was in her sixties. I haven’t seen any reports that she was fighting cancer

Her death is quite a surprise to me. I always enjoyed her news reports.

I heard about this on Good Morning America. Her parents were both elected to Congress. Her father, Hale Boggs, Sr. was House majority leader. His airplane disappeared over Alaska in 1972 and he was declared missing. His widow, Lindy Boggs, was elected to serve the rest of his term.

My first exposure to her was on This Week with David Brinkley, where she was one of the roundtable group along with Sam Donaldson and others. And I saw her on the current incarnation of that show within the last month.

I wanted to add this, but my phone ate it:

She was a groundbreaking journalist, a real pioneer for women in her field.

#CancerStillSucks

Breast cancer?? Oh no. :frowning:

I remember this vividly:

Aw, crap. I was just getting used to the fact that Steve Kroft was retiring from 60 Minutes, and now this. My favorite journalists need to quit dying and retiring!

RIP Cokie, you were awesome.

I was just thinking about her the other day. I no longer have a chance to listen to NPR early in the morning and so I have been missing her Wednesday segment. I’m sorry to hear she’s passed.

RIP Cokie.

She didn’t seem to be as old as she was. Too bad, she was a good journalist.

Good article in OP.

Here Linda Wertheimer and Nina Totenberg reminisce on PBS Newshour. Good watch.
