John Gotti, beloved husband and father, passed away at a Missouri prison hospital yesterday.
He was a devoted father, and loved the neighborhood children…his 4th of July parties were remembered for their exuberence…free ice cream for all, and a wonderful fireworks show after dark.
He will be sadly missed by his tailor, as he preferrred $3,000 Brioni suits, as will hiis hardresser,
The organization he founded (the Ravenite Social Club) is holding a memorial service tonight…relatives and friends invited.Donations to the Italian-American Anti-Defamation Society are greatfully accepted.
John Gotti…a great man and a great human being, you will be sorely missed!
cough
Right.
I’m sure the Castellanos will be sending flowers.
When he tried to move in on my aquarium business, I awoke to find the upper half of a seahorse in my bed.
I for one will not miss the man.
You’re kidding, right? Please tell me you’re kidding.

In any event, I can’t get over these people that I hear on the radio “Oh, he was a wonderful guy!” “He was a terrific neighbor.” “I loved his fireworks parties” “The world needs more people like him.”
C’mon, folks! The guy was a MURDERER!!. He KILLED people. He even had the guy who accidently killed his son disappear forever. Are these people nuts? More people like him??
Yeah, RIP John Gotti. Rot in pieces.

That put the tongue in the cheek for me.
Hey, give the guy a break. He saved my life one time. These three goons were beating the shit outta me outside this bar one night, and Gotti said “awright boys, that’s enough.”
[sub]thanks, to whomever here I stole that joke from[/sub]
Anyone see the New York Post today? God, their staff must have shit their pants when they heard.
And yeah, much of what they wrote lost track of the fact that he was a mobster who killed people.
My favorite outrageous bit–neighbor accidentally runs over Gotti’s son, neighbor is later kidnapped and never seen again. Gotti was definetly bad news–leave it to the Post to try and glorify him.
Mr. Gangst…er…Gotti,
Enjoy the dirt nap. That is all.
Honey
At least he dressed better than junior.
And tell me YOU"VE never gotten into a little squabble with a neighbor…
Maybe they’ll dedicate the upcoming season of The Sopranos to his memory.
Now if we can just get rid of Sammy “The Bull”.
Gotti was a character.
Most mob-bosses would arrive at their trials the back-way, with their coats shielding their faces.
Gotti would arrive in style, wearing thousand dollar suits and quip - in genuine humour - with the reporters.
Sure he killed people. Those who got in his way, or profits. He dealt in narcotics - a Don Corleone no-no.
Full of himself, over-confident and with way more charisma than Guiliani and RFK.
The Feds put him in jail by giving immunity to Sammy the Bull - a hitman who went into the Witness Protection Program and opened an Ecxstasy (sp?) dealing operation in Arizona.
He was a POS scum of the earth, but there’s worse.
I have mixed feelings on Mr. Gotti. I actually ran into him once, literally.
I was in NYC visiting friends and playing tourist. We went to Mama Lenoe’s for dinner one night. I was walking back toward the bathroom, turned my head to check the backside of a girl walking past and bumped shoulders with him as he came the other way down the hall.
I recognized him from New York magazine and just about wet myself. I said, “Excuse me, Mr. Gotti. I wasn’t watching where I was going. I apologize.”
He laughed, apparently pegged my midwest accent and said something like, “Are you a tourist” or “Are you in town for a visit?” something like that.
I said, “Yes, sir. I’m staying with friends for a few days.”
He clapped me on the shoulder and said, “Enjoy the city. You’ll never be anyplace else like it.”
I wish I could say he was so charmed he picked up the check. That would have made the story perfect. Alas, such was not the case.
Yes, he was an extremely hard man who would order someone killed as easily as ordering a cup of coffee, but in person he was a gentleman. I think that’s what made up a great deal of his mystique. He had no soul, but he did have class. I think he was the last of the old school mafiosi. While that’s not something to mourn, it is something to note.
I walked by Spark’s Steak House on my way home from work, about fifteen minutes before Gotti had Paul Castellano hit back in '85. Glad I wasn’t running late that night!
Then he and Sammy probably saw you as they waited across the street in their car, wanting to observe the hit firsthand.
I kicked Gotti’s arse in a fight once. Tough? Ha.
There’s a thin line between confidence and cockiness:
All I can add is; dank gowd for dat.

9 years in solitary isn’t living.
Wonder if he had a last minute deathbed conversion and is in Heaven?
I hate to be crude, but I guess thats 39 points for me (I had him in the sdmb deathpoll)
And what was so important about this guy that he got an eight page cover wrap yesterday (over the Padilla story) and like six pages today. That’s the American media for you always with it’s priorities straight: presidential blow jobs, sports figures, dead mafia guys.
Yeah today’s post is pretty sickening. Time to read the article where they nominate him for sainthood.
