Rise of the machines, part N: Robot monkey brains

The Toronto Star reported today that scientists in Japan succeeded in controlling a humanoid robot by signals sent across the internet from the brain of a monkey running on a treadmill in the US. Here’s a link to the story from a different source.

Apart from hitting a surprising number of SDMB clichés, this story shows that we are even closer than expected tio having our own personal Robot Monkey Butlers.
