So it looks like Rita is headed straight for Houston. I just checked MapQuest, and it appears that Crawford, Texas, is also in its path, though a bit inland from Houston.
So what do you think? If it hits Houston, will it also damage Crawford or is it too far inland?
And, the most important question: Coincidence? Or kharma?
I’m hoping against hope that this bitch fizzles out in the gulf and never makes landfall. I hate to see anybody hurt like this. But…the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. If Crawford does happen to get slammed, and I’m in no way hoping for that, perhaps the good God-fearing folks of the town will lynch the returning hero in response to his bringing God’s wrath upon them.
I think people are reaching a bit here. Crawford is over 200 miles inland. That’s farther inland than say Jackson, MS. As far as I know, Jackson wasn’t leveled during Katrina.
Crawford is only about 80 miles SSW of Dallas, I can’t remember the last time Dallas was wiped out by a hurricane. Austin is closer to the coast and it doesn’t have a great history of hurricane destruction, either.
Ahh, it’s so nice to see another level-headed guy. A friend asked me if I’d heard whether a mutual friend had evacuated - the mutual friend lives a mere 250 miles from the coast.
And after Bush just got through five weeks of brush-clearing, his poor ranch is going to be all filled with broken twigs and leaves and whatnot. It’s an excuse for a vacation more than karma.
