Democratic Congressman Pete Stark.
But that’s not quite what I suggested. I said someone had suggested that the Iraq war was funded to get kids sent to Iraq to get their heads blown off for President Bush’s amusement.
And someone did say that. A Congressman, no less.
No – I am talking about a guy the Democrats repeatedly elected to Congress.
See? Given an opportunity to condemn the comment, see what you guys do here?
Cheney does shoot people in the face though, so…
He also disrespected the Jews by meeting with the Arabs. The Arabs by meeting with the Jews. The Quakers by meeting with the Latter Day Saints. The Red Sox by meeting with the Yankees…
Hey how about this? How about if the RNC takes all the dollars their right honorable deligates are busy jamming into the panties of 19 year old strippers all over Tampa and spends them on making sure that every senior citizen and shut-in in their state is registered to vote?
Ooops. They can’t do that. It would disrespect the strippers.
:dubious:
Okay: the comment was meanspirited and untrue hyperbole made by a jerk with a history of meanspirited untrue hyperbole, and swiftly condemned by the most powerful Democrat at the time, Nancy Pelosi. I can find no record of DNC response to it–was there any response? If not, it probably would have been appropriate to make one.
That compares to Birther claims…how? That compares to Akin’s comments…how? Birthers and Akin both made claims with a factual value (whereas Stark’s was clearly hyperbolic, however inappropriate). Major Republicans continue to keep the Birther controversy alive; can you imagine Obama making a joke about killing troops for Bush’s amusement, which would be the analogy if you want to compare Stark’s comment to Birther claims? As I showed earlier, Akin’s comment was based on a common error among pro-lifers and had significant defenders after it was made.
Well, it appears that Pete Stark actually said something along the lines of what Bricker quoted. Amongst other things. This guy is an embarassment, it would seem, and I am distressed that a vote to censure him was defeated.
That being said, at least there was some official acknowledgement, and a vote was held. I’ll take some time tonight to look for more official responses.
That’s one.
I counter with Michelle Bachmann.
You got more? I have plenty more on the other side to counter with.
