Try this instead: take Beck to an outdoor cafe in Oslo and buy him dinner. Excuse yourself and go into a bar next door. Find a bunch of linebacker sized Norwegians who are pretty wasted and buy them a round of beers. Mention to them that an old friend of yours is sitting in the cafe and said some nasty things about those Norsk teens. Asked them to explain to your friend why that was very rude. And just as they leave to go out the door, inform them that your friend called Norwegians a bunch of dirty Nazi loving thugs.

As you stand inside, sipping a pint of Frydenlund, watching the melee at Cafe Fight Club, you realize that a nice looking Norwegian blonde has the eye for you.

Ah, OK. So when I thought that boycotting South Africa for their apartheid politics, I was anti-South Africa, not against the politics of SA’s ruling party. And when I think that a boycott of Israel for their apartheid politics and their wall of shame may be a good idea, I’m naturally against all Israelis, and probably anti-Semitic as well? It can’t be caused just by the current politics of the current Israeli administration?

Some of my son’s friends were on that island.

I want to say before I start my rant that physically, all of his friends are fine. A few had left to come home early, and all those who were there got away unharmed. It doesn’t change the fact that far too many of our children were killed there, but I am grateful for the small mercy that my son did not have to lose anyone. He, like many of the victims, is only 17.

Seventeen years old.

Why was he friends with these kids? Because he is also active in a political party’s youth movement. A different party, one that often finds itself in opposition to the Labor Party (and yet that Breivik probably also despises). Think about this: kids in different youth parties were friends. Why?

Because these are Good Kids. These are kids who share many goals. They want to make their country better. They want to make the world better. They want to share those things they think are good about Norway with the world, and they want to fix Norway’s problems, too. They believe in democracy, in human rights, in progress. They are our best and brightest, every one of them, no matter what party they think best fits their beliefs. And they go to meetings, and some of them go to summer camp, to learn about democracy and the political process and about organizing and getting out the vote.

They are not being indoctrinated by the “mother parties”, as they call the adult parties. In fact they are known for criticizing them, and in some cases even changing the mother party’s opinion and platform. They may not have the experience, but by god do they have the passion. Youth does that.

They are our best and brightest. And some monster stole more than sixty-eight of them from us.

Glenn Beck, kindly go stick your head in a pig. And Chen019, you go next.

Those of you who need to be reminded that most people are not like this, I encourage you to look at these photos of the rose march in Oslo. This happened in every city and town in Norway. It’s our country, and Breivik can’t have it.

I am very glad to hear that your son’s friends are OK. When he moves to Dallas, I plan to egg Glenn Beck’s house…or maybe toilet paper it. An egg or roll of toilet paper will be dedicated to victims. I know it seems frivolous, but Glenn Beck isn’t worth much more effort than juvenile pranks.

I googled Tolik and if the poster are one and the same, he’s an “out-there” libertarian.

To wit: at the top of the web page is a clickable link for the JPFO (i. e., "Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership). Hmm, a tepid candidate for “Weird Earl’s”, but then I saw this little gem: “No Guns for Negroes” (which is, if you think about it, is more progressive than “No guns for Colored folk”) along with “No Guns for Jews”. More or less, an argument against gun control, but with a touch of paranoia. I couldn’t, however, find any videos on the website entitled, “No Guns for Muslims” or “No Guns for Arabs”. Could be construed as “Antisemitic” so-to-speak, but I’ll leave that to others to debate.

There’s nothing particularly far-flung about it; a lot of gun-control measures historically did have connections to racism, and the video, which is narrated by and features black gun rights advocates, illustrates this. I don’t know what kind of point you’re trying to make by making fun of the video in this thread.
