OH MY GOD SHUT YOUR GODDAMN MOUTH YOU HORRIBLE SWINE. Those young people were politically aware, engaged, and passionate about their beliefs, they were learning about participation and debate, they were taking part in electoral democracy, and they were just murdered for it, how dare you shit all over them!
This whole thing has left me particularly shaken because I spent a hefty chunk of my own youth going to events like this. Those young people were murdered for doing what I did myself, what a lot of my friends and colleagues – some of whom are now among Canada’s youngest MPs in history – have done. We were trying, through the medium of electoral politics, to learn to make the world we would inherit a bit of a better place.
There is not actually a Guinness record for most appalling comment on foreign affairs, and just because you’re not familiar with the concept of genuine democracy and youth participation doesn’t make it an alien concept to the rest of the world, so shut your hate hole and learn something! Asshole.
Not surprised, Beck has invited people like the author of “Liberal Fascism” (an abortion that dared to call itself history) to appear in his show in an attempt to make liberalism or socialism to be equal to fascism. Not only Europeans complained about that stupid attempt at rewriting history, but even in the USA historians came hard on people like Jonah Goldberg and Beck.
WHAT’S DISTURBING IS THAT DOZENS OF PEOPLE WERE GUNNED DOWN IN COLD BLOOD YOU FUCKING DOUCHETARD ASSHOLE.
Jesus CHRIST.
I was tempted to link to this on Facebook but I don’t want to give even a cent more in advertising to the sites and blogs publishing this story. DIE IN A FIRE YOU SICK FUCK.
That’s the more outrageous part of that story to me. He’s basically siding with the fuck head who did the shooting. What’s different? Hell, transcribe half that rant into Breivik’s manifesto and it would barely skip cadence.
‘See, I told you if Muslims were allowed that someone would try to kill them.’
I dunno. Right wing political commentators get away with saying some egregious crap sometimes, but “those 60 teenagers that were gunned down at summer camp were pretty much like Nazi’s” is so far over the line I suspect hearing it would make even Sean Hannity throw-up in his mouth a little.
Had FOX not already kicked him out, I suspect they’d be doing so now (and indeed, the inevitablility of Beck saying stuff like this is probably why the bounced him in the first place).
Statements like this will only marginalize him further. The people that still listen to him and agree with his viewpoints are too far up their own asses already and probably aren’t capable of redemption. But I’m a glass-full kind of guy.
The thing is, he doesn’t even believe it. He’s a political shock jock. No one who thinks like this can legitimately say they have liberal friends, as Beck did in that USA Today piece.
I have not owned a TV for years, and have never watched a minute
of Glen Beck anywhere.
Of course I have read many references to him in seven years of playing
the politcal chatroom game, and I have noticed that Liberals universally
despise him (I am a consevative, and have until 2008 usually voted Republican).
Until a few minutes I wrote off Glen Beck criticism as probably highly
exaggerated, and motivated by bias and partisanship
No longer.
To mention the innocent children who died on Utoya in the same breath
as anything associated with Nazism is proof of moral death.
