Robert Altman is a Damn Fool

“The thirteenth month”? OK, I know that this was decribed as cryptic in the original quote, but does anybody have any idea what this means in Crazy World?

And yes, I got the “Smarch” joke. I thought it was funny, but seriously, anybody know?

Sofa King,

Your post does far more to discredit you than I could ever do.

Ta!

Sorry, I changed my mind. Last hijack, I promise.

Sofa King, do you realize the following:

  1. The page you are referring to is a lobbyist page.
  2. The speech to which you refer is a lobbyist speech.
  3. Hi Opal!
  4. The only place in this lobbyist’s speech on this lobbyist’s page that mentions your 10-15 percent figure is this - “drunk driver caused fatalities, probably somewhere between 10 and 15 percent of all fatal accidents.” There is no suppoeting documentation, no real numbers.

Are you really calling me a “fucking asshole” because I take the word of the NHTSA over some numbers a single biased actuary pulled out of his ass?

From what I’ve seen elsewhere on this board, you are better than that King.

Heck, the problem goes back even further, to the television of the 60s. Especially that “Combat” series which played for years and can still be seen in reruns. Altman ought to blame it on the producers and directors of that series.

Errrr, wait a minute. Just who was a producer and director of “Combat”?

And who can forget “The Untouchables”? That weren’t no kiddie show, neither.

Just FTR, “family values” was Quayle’s phrase re: Murphy Brown. I don’t remember what Dole said about NBK.

“Nobody would have thought to commit an atrocity like that unless they’d seen it in a movie,” said Altman.
I think that Altman has made a very presumptuous, self-aggrandizing, and culturally ignorant statement, for he seriously underestimates the intellect of the enemy.

Altman is full of shit. Since way before his time, the “alphabet” agencies have employed people whose only job is to sit around brainstorming stuff like that, and come up with ways to counter it.
