Rochester Dopers FunFest

So, hubby and I are in town this weekend, and I will be until at least next weekend …

Anybody want to get together and get into minor trouble … ? :smiley:

I could go for a movie [WallE sounds fun] or dinner and drinks, but I dont know the local hangouts any more and have only gone to the chain places [macaroni grill, red robin and red lobster]

I do know that I have a family obligation tomorrow afternoon, we are going to visit my dad in the hospital and will have my mother and brother along, but afterwards we can drive back in [from caledonia] and hang, or I can come in after work during the week [Mom and I will be vsiting my dad on tuesday and thursday evening so I am busy those 2 nights] or we can do something without hubby next weekend.

Buler? Buler?

<listens to the crickets chirping>

First off - I’m in.

My schedule is flexible, though I generally should block out most days for playing chauffeur for my father.

For a couple of places: RIT grads would probably enjoy revisiting Jay’s Diner on West Henrietta. It’s decent diner food. But no liquor license. It’s also a bit smaller than some other venues. If we get more than 5-6 people we might not be able to have a single group there.

A bit larger would be Zebb’s on Clinton. It’s another diner-style place. But they do have a liquor license, which could be important for some people. (I’d be just as happy without booze/beer, but that’s just me.) And I like the food there.

Of course I’d love to hear other suggestions as well.

Jay’s is definitely a blast from the past for me, I lived around the corner of it when I went to [oddly enough] RIT =)

I can drink or not, and am open to just about anything up to and including going to see WallE, hanging out somewhere eating and talking, and mrAru is pretty easygoing in his entertainment choices. We were thinking 7ish in the evening would be a good target time.

I’m willing to go with a tentative meet at 7 PM at Jay’s. I’ll be the bearded, round guy in the USS Akron ballcap.

One fat chick with a cane and one bald guy in a USS Miami ballcap=)

Well that was a blast … I would have posted sooner but between family and stuff in general I have been busy …
The food at Jays was about the same as before, a few dishes had changed, and I for one dont see a problem with a fried bologna panini even though mrAru does but then again I am not from California =)

And I can highly recommend Wall-E as a fun movie at least for adults. I guess kids would like it but probably wouldnt unnderstand some of the in jokes. And we all loved the pet cockroach that lives in a 700 year old twinkie=)
