Rock Band DLC

I’ve decided to start this thread as a nice gathering point for all things Rock Band DLC related. Feel free to post the songs already released you love, songs you’d love to see released, and news about any new songs that are confirmed.

For example, for us Portal fans, the ending credit song “Still Alive” is confirmed DLC for some time in the future (which has me incredibly happy).

As for some songs I’d like to see:

Oasis - Champagne Supernova
The Bravery - Believe and/or Time Won’t Let Me Go
Collective Soul - Run and/or Shine and/or The World I Know
The Offspring - The Kids Aren’t Alright

I really want to see “Debaser” by the Pixies on there. No particular reason why…

I’d like to see some stuff by Live, Tonic, Eve 6, Fuel, Better Than Ezra, etc, etc, etc…

I was singing tonight and thought that Karma Chameleon would be a lot of fun. Cotton Eye Joe would be another fun one just for the sheer goofiness of it.

We Built This City (On Rock and Roll) would be another great song.

There are a lot of great songs available so far, and some that aren’t so great. A few I love/ and one I don’t love that much (Scorcho):

Why Do You Love Me? by Garbage. Decent guitar, and the vocals are good, but the main attraction is the awesome drum track. It took me about 10 tries to 5-star it on expert, so it’s pretty challenging. I’m going to be playing this one a bunch.

El Scorcho by Weezer. Good party song, but that’s about it. The guitar track is coma inducing, and the drums are just OK.

Roam by the B-52’s. Great song, especially for singing. The guitar part is good too. Drums are ok, but very repetitive.

Siva by Smashing Pumpkins. I don’t like the song that much (I don’t really like the Pumpkins in general), but I picked this one up for a challenge on drums. I still can’t beat it on expert, but I’m working on it.

The Oasis Pack. Pretty good stuff all around, especially for those of us looking to add songs to our list that people know for party situations. The drums are fun without being super challenging, although they’re all very similar so you might think you’re playing the same song three times. Live Forever in particular is pretty boring (but an easy gold-star) on drums. Guitar and vocals are great all around though.

Last Train To Clarksville by the Monkees is a suprising challenge. Both the guitar and the drums are actually pretty tricky on expert. It’s good fun though, and again it’s another one that people know so it’s great for parties.

Interstate Love Song by Stone Temple Pilots. Awesome guitar, great drums, good vocals.

Limelight by Rush. If you’re a drum fan, any Rush DLC is an obvious pickup.

Song With A Mission by Sounds. This is a pretty simple track, but it’s fast and fun to play. The drum part is a good endurance test because you’re going full speed almost the whole way.

My Iron Lung by Radiohead. Obviously a song this awesome will be fun to play, no matter what.

Buddy Holly by Weezer. Party! Song!

Brass In Pocket by The Pretenders. Actually, “as made famous by” the Pretenders unfortunately, although it’s a decent cover. This is a really easy song, especially on drums, but it’s still fun to play, I guess because I like the song a lot. It’s a good song to play when you need a break from the frantic pace of the other songs in the game.

I Fought The Law by the Clash. Another great party song and a decent challenge on the instruments too.

3’s & 7’s by Queens of the Stone Age. This is a track every drummer needs to get. It’s a great song to impress your loser buddies with, because it looks a lot harder than it is. Practice up a few times and show 'em how it’s done. It’s also good practice for harder tracks like Foreplay/Long Time, which uses some of the same techniques (just faster).

I love Song With a Mission.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band both have turned me onto music that I never heard or was interested in before. Song With A Mission is the latest that I’ve bought off iTunes after playing it in Rock Band. As I’ve done in the past with other artists I’ve ‘discovered’ through the games, I’ll eventually buy an album or two from the artist.

My question is this. Why isn’t the music industry throwing money at Harmonix to put songs in the game? This could really drive music sales.

Who’s to say they aren’t? I’ve read rumblings on the official forums because some spare European band called “Tokio Hotel” is rumored to have some DLC forthcoming, and apparently they’re the German equivalent of Hanson or something, so the hardcore rawkers are up in arms. I could care less, as long as the good songs keep coming too. Harmonix has always been great a picking songs that are fun to play, so I’m not worried if they slip one in here and there to pay the bills.

BTW for anyone who’s interested in what’s coming up, there’s a page on Wikipedia that keeps track of what’s been announced/leaked:

I’m hoping for some good stuff next week, because I’m not seeing anything good (for me personally) in March. :frowning:

March 4
“Blinded by Fear” by At the Gates
“Shadow World” by The Haunted
“Thrasher” by Evile

March 11
“Shooting Star” by Bad Company
“Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd
“Message in a Bottle” by The Police

March 18
“The Collector” by Nine Inch Nails
“March of the Pigs” by Nine Inch Nails
“The Perfect Drug” by Nine Inch Nails

March 25
“Fuel” by Metallica
“Supernaut” by Black Sabbath
“Wrathchild” by Iron Maiden

And as mentioned above, “Still Alive” from Portal is coming sometime, as is the full albums “Who’s Next?” by The Who and “Nevermind” by Nirvana.

Every time “Renegade” comes up on my iPod I fantasize about it being a Rock Band song. Seriously, man, would that not be the funnest thing ever?

I kinda disagree. It is fast, but it’s the same pattern over and over. I soend a lot of time looking out the window when I’m drumming that. Shame, since I love the Sounds.

I also hope RB gets some more Aerosmith available, so I won’t have to buy Guitar Hero in July. Which I will.

Some kind of build-your-own would be nice. If I could write a ringtone for my Nokia, why not a DIY Rock Band Creator. Maybe a subscription fee to cover licensing? Some of my absolute favorite songs are by band nowhere near popular enough to be considered for something like this.

I really want:

Butterfly - Digimon Opening Theme
Anything by the Pillows really, especially Little Busters, Blues Drive Monster, Ride on Shooting Star, or Hybrid Rainbow

99 Luftballoons(Nena)/Red Balloons (Foldfinger version)

His world (Sonic 360 version or Zebrahead version)
Crush 40 stuff from Sonic

Personally I just think the anime/video game market is under-represented.

And other things that escape me now.

Harmonix just announced that these songs will be next week’s DLC. So the March leaked list is not quite in the right order.

I’m looking forward to the songs listed for March 11 - especially Skynyrd. There should be more Skynyrd in the game. More southern rock in general, more southern boogie and electric blues. These are the songs that everyone loves to play. Texas Flood was the best song in GHI, and Pride and Joy and La Grange were two of the best songs in the other editions. I want more stuff like that, and less metal and hair band.
