RockStar: Season 2

Okay let’s assume RockStar:INXS does well in the ratings, and INXS is once again a hit band. Let’s further assume that the ratings are well enough to warrent at least a second season.

The question is: What band do you use for season 2?

Talk amongst yourselves.

Chris W

How about The Tommy Dorsey Band? They really haven’t been the same since that Frank somebody left.

Maybe The Doors?

The Beatles? Then there could be two winners.

Since Ian Astbury is buggering about with “The D***S”, I’d like to see The Cult!

The problem with that is that the Cult were never really a mainstream band;the casual listener may remember 1 or 2 songs by them at best(not a slam, but merely based on airplay). INXS, on the other hand, had a crapload of hits big and small.
Are there any mainstream bands looking for a lead singer left?

Chris W

Basically, you need a band with a dead lead singer, with other members not on social security. All I can come up with is Nirvana, and that would just be offensive.

Drowning Pool?

Van Halen?

Jason “Gong” Jones is the new lead singer for Drowning Pool. He’s good, but he’ll never live up to Dave Williams.

Hmmmm…Seems Ryan McCombs has replaced Gong. shakes her head

And those surviving members should be dealing with a significantly reduced level of success and popularity. Even if a Nirvana show were in the works, I doubt that Dave Grohl would feel the need to give up selling all of those records he’s selling with the Foo Fighters.

But INXS had a new lead singer as well, who they scrapped not too long before the idea for Rock Star started being bandied about, so you never know

The obvious second season gimmick is that an existing lead singer has to compete, either against the winner of a season one style Rock Star competition or tossed into the mix with the rest of the proles.

Which band? Whatever. The next season should be a search for a guitarist.

Rock is as much about guitar (& the rhythm section, for that matter) as about vocals.
