Something I’ve been wondering about for a while now. Once a winner is chosen, how well will the band do?
For one thing, Hutchence has been dead for 8 years now. Usually the longer a band is out of the picture, the harder it is for a comeback, although that isn’t always the case. For example, Duran Duran seems to be having a pretty good comeback.
For another, it won’t be the same. I mean, for the general public, Michael Hutchence is the only member most people can name from the group. To most people, he probably WAS the group.
Of course plenty of groups switched lead singers and did all right.
But I don’t know, I have my doubts about how well the newly formed INXS will do. Can they be relevant in today’s music scene? I have my doubts, but I hope I’m wrong.
When they were at the height of their fame they were squat. This won’t change a thing.
Why are the called a super group?
BTW, the blonde guy will win.
I thought that they were pretty good. But then, it’s all a matter of taste.
I never knew that they were. A supergroup is usually described as a group made up of members of other famous groups, or solo artists.
Actually, I don’t watch the show, but no matter who wins, my question remains the same.
The show will guarantee that this album will be a success. If the new singer can work well within the group, they may be able to continue past that.
And there’s no way Marty (the blond guy) will win. It’ll be Ty, and I can see him continuing with the band beyond one album and tour.
I, on the other hand, think the band will enjoy only a modest bump in popularity as a result of the show, and the singer chosen will be discharged after one album.
Singer could stay with INXS as long as they remain active as a band. This is really probably BETTER than the way most bands choose their members. But I doubt that INXS will hang around too long.
I’d say Marty has a good shot. It’s between him and Ty. They both have pretty good voices and emotion.
Jessica sounds too much like Cher. She’s out soon.
Hey, for a guilty pleasure to watch, this is a lot less guilty than Paradise Hotel.
I don’t see Ty winning. He’s my clear favourite (of all the boys. Jordis if my over-all favourite), and Marty’s my runner-up, but I really think Ty’s just not got the right sound. He sounds very “broadway”, and it’s beautiful, but it really doesn’t seem to suit the songs they’re going to want him to sing. Which is a pity, because I do have some of the Ty-Love going on right now.
