I don’t think we needed any more comformation that Hollywood has bored a couple thousand feet below rock bottom. But alas, I am wrong: Stallone dons gloves for ‘Rocky 6’.
What was the last Stallone film to make money, Cliffhanger? How much clout does he have to be able to keep turning out crappy movies that were old 15 fucking years ago?
Come on, Sly, it’s over. You wrote one kickass script and acted one kickass role, but Rocky has proven all he tried to prove. He’s had his peak. Let him walk away with dignity.
Charles Bronson did a decent enough job in the Death Wish franchise, so there’s hope for Rambo 4. I just wish they’d make Rambo 2.
I mean, First Blood —> Rambo: First Blood part II —> Rambo III??? I don’t think so, guys :dubious:
For Rocky 6, I’d expect him to be a coach or boxing instructor or whatever they call them.
Yeah, it was heading that way at the end of the series way back when, so SLy probably isn’t going to be the one up in the ring.
As for Rambo, well, your guess is as good as mine.
I don’t know. Maybe Rocky could get in the ring with some lean, hungry 25-year-old. The first forty five minutes would be the setup. The next half hour would be the fight, in real time, with Rock getting his ass kicked round after round before biting the canvas. The Mr T and Dolph Lundgren come into the ring, stand over him and laugh.
Read an interview with Stallone a few months ago where he referenced the upcoming Rambo and Rocky movies. Rocky will, indeed, be functioning as a trainer rather than boxing. Rambo will be called upon to train and help a much younger group of commando-types. They will be properly astonished at what this guy they think is just a burned out old man can do. Why is it that Stallone is always so charming, self-deprecating and funny on talkshows and in interviews, but so lifeless on screen?
Foreman was 46 when he won the title, which is what I was opining will never happen again – I’m not sure how old he was when he last set foot in the ring.
Agreed, and I find that somewhat sad. If you see him speak in interviews, or engage in other activities (I really liked his Saturday Night Live hosting gig), it seems that he is a really bright man. I did not see Copland, but heard he had a very good acting performance there.
But he’ll be forever known as the stupid muscle-actor.
