Roger Waters announces new Wall tour!

DUDE!

I have a cousin who is pretty damn high up the Madison Square Garden ladder – it’s an “in” that I don’t call on very often, but I do believe I’m going to have to be there on October 5th.

Wonder if it’ll be played in album order or movie order?

My friend just sent me this. I replied back, “Is this his (RW’s) way of saying that he’s out of drug money?”

More like out of ideas for concept albums.

But I’ll be there.

Last tour, my GF and I interviewed Roger Waters’ son Harry backstage (that’s me screwing up the sound:smack:).

Maybe we can put the touch on him for free tix again.

Hmmm, I have a conference in Philadelphia right when the tour hits there. Maybe worth checking out…

I’m a huge fan of that album and of the Floyd in general, but Roger flat out can’t sing anymore. His vocal cords are shot.

Listen to him at Live 8…its painful.

Maybe he was having an off night?

I’ll listen to that when I get home (don’t have speakers on the computer at work). But I saw RW in concert, um, was it last year or the year before? and he sounded fine to me. Great show!

If I can afford the tickets and they aren’t sold out, I’ll be up in LA rocking out to The Wall in December.

Maybe he just had voice issues on that particular night, but it sounded more like it was just deterioration. Roger’s maniacal, cackling, screeching voice work on The Wall really defines the beautiful descent into madness that is that album. It would be a shame if that were sullied in any way just because he’s getting up there in years. Hell, I felt the same way about The Who on their Superbowl appearance. Its embarrassing.

Maybe he’ll do like he did for the Berlin Wall shows and hire a bunch of other vocalists to sing all the songs.

My dearest hope/dream would be that Nick Mason and Dave Gilmour somehow agreed to be involved. Then I would pay in blood to go see it!

That would be SO sweet!

I think they’d prefer money.

According to the usually pretty accurate fan site, A Fleeting Glimpse (www.pinkfloydz.com) :

If that’s the case, I definitely have to try to get tickets!

They’d agree if it were Roger’s blood.

Did anyone watch the video of “Wish You Were Here” from the Live8 concert? Roger sounds just bad. Perhaps that’s an aberration and not the current state of his vocals.

Last time I saw him was the Radio KAOS tour…to a mostly empty Washington Capital Center right before The Floyd sold out 3 consecutive shows there when I saw them during their Momentary Lapse tour…

I recall mention of Waters miming parts on both his “In the Flesh” and “Dark Side of the Moon” tours. So that makes concerns about his vocals kinda moot.

Here’s hoping he brings this to Sydney.

I absolutely forbid anyone to bump this thread! I forbid it!!!

Why haven’t I heard of Roger much at all since Floyd? I know it’s easier to promote the more famous name, but have his solo albums measured up to that bar? I know it’s very difficult. I’d be interested in them if they were as listenable, but I suspect they’re not. I heard of one of his solo albums when it came out, and then never again. Opinions/suggestions?

I’ve heard (and enjoy) both The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking and Amused to Death, but IMHO, his solo stuff is an acquired taste – very wordy and often heavy-handed. Pros and Cons is more-or-less the third in a logical progression starting with The Wall and continuing with The Final Cut.

If you like The Final Cut, Pros and Cons is more of the same, but with Eric Clapton instead of David Gilmour. I think it’s weaker, personally, but IIRC, the track “Sexual Revolution” is from the Wall demos, so that makes it more interesting already.

I’m more partial to Gilmour’s solo albums, though, and I think they carry the spirit of ‘70s Floyd better than Waters’ solo albums, which, to me, sound like pale imitations of The Wall.

Radio KAOS was (is) a great album, as well.
