…choice links (of Roland’s threads and others’) to serve as a kind of de facto, all-purpose answer to future “What does it mean to be a ‘jerk’?” type of questions. You’d kind of present them with a huge bouquet of material from which to study various jerky behavior patterns, and if they really want to sniff, they can go ahead. (Someone like Roland would probably not sniff, as he had not read the registration agreement more than cursorily.) But instead of writing a necessarily dismissive “Jerks are what they say we are, we’re not lawyers here parsing out what ‘jerks’ constitute…” kind of note, it might be more satisfying to give them all the reading they might need in one neat thread.
I’ve never really noticed him until last week with all the “cheating on your spouse” threads, the “would you keep the kid” threads etc. They struck me as a little weird. Has that always been the case?
Well done, mods. While he never particularly bothered me, he was still a small nuisance and I am glad to have a few less annoying posts to scroll by as I read the board.
Yup. When he first showed up he posted 6 or more nonfactual questions to GQ each day, and then got into arguments over what constitutes a ‘fact’. This latest weirdness was just further blossoming of the peculiarity that was Roland.
His banning was well deserved.
Ah, interesting. I guess he managed to stay under my radar for most of the time. I hadn’t really noticed him much until the latest spate of ridiculousness. And I actually I kind of skipped past his stuff as you might ignore the jabberings of the neighbourhood loon, so I didn’t realize how prenounced his weirdness was. I thought he was normal at least part of the time.
It doesn’t surprise me and was probably long overdue, but I just kind of fnorded his posts, personally. There’s a couple of other posters that I do that too as well, but this not being The Pit I won’t name any names.
Anyway, much thanks to the mods for keeping this site a decent place to have a discussion rather than a stagnant pond for trolls.
