I figured he was, if only because it’s too frightening to imagine there could be two guys out there that inanely pathetic.
I really hadn’t thought about it till after the banning, since ol’ Roland had pretty much fallen completely out of my mind about two seconds after being thrown out, but it does seem to fit. The, as you put it, pathetic sniveling quality, the total verbal diarrhea about personal details that really have no relevance, the young child, the wife who is just marking time because of said child, the lack of friends, the wife’s friends who might lead her into sexually adventurous stuff that doesn’t include him…it all fits.
Funny, it was exactly Roland that I thought of when I read his post saying his wife got hit on by some hot chick (and calling his wife “moderately obese” at 5’5 and 160 lbs.)

Well, it wasn’t as blatant (by a hair) as o_O, but scanning the banned’s thread (Hhow do you pronounce that…“bands” or “BAN-neds”??), the RD connection is pretty obvious.

Number Six got banned (well, requested banning) for creating an entirely new persona while still pretending to be him/herself. RD can’t even seem to come up with any new details even when he’s trying to be someone else. I repeat, what an imagination :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
That’s an emoticon stuck at the end of virtually every post made by another of the banned, Zagadka, AKA the sock Demorian, and a guess a bunch of other socks, too. For some bizarre reason he would stick that thing in while playing the sock-puppeteer, like he was trying to get caught.
I guess o_O is supposed to be :dubious:, but to me it looks more like googly-eyed confusion or surprise.
It’s intended as a kind of “dumbstruck” or “boggled” icon, yes. I tend to use it with frequency in MMORPGs, so I guess I’m glad I’ve never (or rarely) used it here as a result.
Of course I just now noticed that his location was listed as “The Wastelands”.

IIRC, they weren’t technically married. It was more of a common-law relationship.

One thing that confuses me:
The only thread I saw Doppleganger in was in IMHO, titled “Does ‘Girl’s night out’ bother anyone?” or something like that. I noticed the banning of Doppleganger, who wrote the OP, and noted in thread how we’d probably never find out how Girl’s night out went. Someone else said “search for Roland Deschain”, I wrote something like “Are you saying he was a sock?”
This was just a few hours ago. Go try to find that thread. It’s gone. Other Doppleganger threads are still there, including an ongoing one about “why do lesbians like butch girls?” But that thread has been dissappeared.
I’ve never seen a whole thread thrown into a black hole on the SDMB. Well, except for that Winter of Missed Content. WTF?
