I’m mostly joking, but what are the rules about wagers, just for fun?
No bets.
Thank you.
WINNER!!! Does happy dance. I bet it was against the rules and I won. YES, Yes, yes!!!

Not a good sign:
It looks like “Never Back Down” is backing down.
He is, and always has been in my view, a poseur. The only authentic thing about him is his fascist bent.
Let’s hope he “never gets back up”!
Maybe this has been addressed here, but I read in yesterday’s newspaper that De(mon)Santis might consider Iowa’s governor, Kim Reynolds (yes, the same one who signed the 6-week abortion ban) as his running mate, should he get on the ticket.
I don’t want her out of office THAT badly.
there should be a law you cannot run for office if you have held public office in the past year
You know, we used to have a state resign-to-run law. Fla. Stat. 99.012. DeSantis had that law changed so it no longer applies to him.

So you would have kept FDR, Harry Truman, JFK and Barack Obama out of the White House?
As well as both Bushes and every sitting president. It would be the proper way to repeal 22A.
Linking this in both DeSantis threads:
Basically, wants to use the power of current protected position to continue wars because he disagrees with their advertising strategy.
I hope to the FSM that one of the upcoming court cases from Disney or the like against his efforts at state-enforced retribution hammer him under the ground, but probably a pipe dream…
The state pension fund loses money because people like DeSantis urge boycott, and it’s Bud Light’s fault?
“Look what you made us do!” has been a major excuse for the modern Republican party, so yeah.
But, to the point of the thread, I think the key point is the following quote from the article:
However, DeSantis’ actions on Thursday signaled Republicans are not done using the company as a punching bag as they seek to gain favor with the party’s base. The move against Bud Light also served as another reminder that DeSantis as a sitting governor can use the power of the state to weigh in on the issues animating Republican voters, an advantage he holds over a 2024 primary field that includes many people not currently in office, including his top rival, former President Donald Trump.
Considering the current state of his 2024 bid, putting himself in the forefront of the news in the War-on-Woke, even if it’s farcically unfair, well, no surprises at least.
Not to mention the losses related to someone else like DeSantos, or someone else DeSantos likes, whichever sequence those words are put in:
…Now, Democrat Andrew Learned (D-Brandon) says the state’s pension fund has lost $200 million from its investments in Russia, following sanctions on the country due to the war. The state reportedly has $300 million invested in Russia-based companies.
“Florida’s Retirement System LOST over $200m in our Russian Investments after refusing to divest our holdings when I called for it over two months ago,” Learned tweeted. “Turns out, backing Putin and his war crimes in Ukraine wasn’t just bad for freedom, it was a bad investment too.”
Goddam Ukrainians. They need to stop resisting.
DeSantis has entered something called the “doom loop.”
Maybe he will stage a comeback, but that’s a lot of work and I think he’d fight himself every step, just from natural lack of charisma.
He was uninjured in a car accident today. Would have been some comedic karma if he was hit by a Trans Am but looks like just a fender bender in his motorcade.
