That’s my guess. The primary Repulbican voter is motivated by unconscious feelings of fear and loathing rather than reason. Presumably they have a psych major on their media team whose decided that the rapid fire semi-liminal images are the best way target the unconscious.

DeSantis says he’d consider naming RFK Jr. to head the CDC or FDA. A National Review article calls that “…a grotesquely unacceptable pander: to put a person actively opposed to modern medical care in charge of the federal government’s oversight of major aspects of it.”
The NR article notes that DeSantis claiming RFK Jr.'s views are 30% in alignment with the G.O.P. base is “sort of like saying the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party candidate is mostly in line with our views except for the whole “face eating” part.”

In my old neighborhood, local politicians engaged in a lot of retail politics and I found it to be an extremely effective technique. I was always ready to vote in the primary for the city council or state senate candidate that I actually had a conversation with, whether they had been going door to door or doing meet and greets on busy street corners.
( This was a deep blue Dem +40 district so these races were effectively decided in the primary - the term of art the media used was “secure their seat”.)
But if I had met that guy while he was campaigning, I’d probably be “no way I’m voting for that douche”, no matter what his policy positions were.

Meatball Ron might be in some kind of trouble for that migrant stunt he pulled. Very early days, but still interesting. Basically, the DA whose territory includes Martha’s Vineyard is asking the DOJ for assistance to investigate the trips. I guess it will give DeSantis an opportunity to howl about the “weaponization of the DOJ” too, just like the Big Boys.

Ron has agreed to debate Gavin Newsom. It’s early days and might not happen, but the conditions are: No notes are to be used by either person, it will be moderated by Sean Hannity (because that sounds impartial) and run for about 90 minutes. Will Ron have the kind of performance that might inject new energy into his slumping campaign? Or will he be a laughingstock except to his few hardcore supporters?
